Barrel and gas block are en route to ADCO for pinning. Optics and a few small parts are still needed.

Of course they were. Marines were the only service to widely field the MK12 at all. All other instances of MK12's being used was with smaller specialized groups from other branches.

I hope you had the candles lit and rose petals layed before the brown truck arrived.

I trust you're assembling right now.

Hah.  Well done on beating the edit.  I can't claim the same... out of four PSA uppers I've beat on, I've only had success with moving them on one.   I keep meaning to make a jig for squeezing them out.

It wouldn't be clone correct to paint it.

I'm trying to find an image from my files; my sniper plt had 6 SAM-Rs in Ramadi in 06 we used to good effect (along with an SR-25) for the short ranges that most engagements took place in.  I'm fairly certain they painted them just like the bolt guns, the SR, and the M82s...but I know you guys won't be happy if it isn't provable in the wild!

Check your SAM-R "in the wild" images.

It wouldn't be clone correct to paint it.

Found the uncropped picture myself a couple days back and kinda went at it.  Didn't bother to post it as proof of painting because it was in British use.  But that USMC photo is proof positive.  Very interesting.

This pic has always confounded me, by the parts used it's clearly a SAM-R, but why it's being used by the Brits? Maybe it's a training pic, or joint operation? I've got pics of me back in '02 with Spanish issued/made G36's, maybe in a few years it'll confused someone too

I though cannot bring myself to paint my SAM-R, I never actually saw one that had a paint job. They were all plain Jane, or, as plain, and I mean awesome, as a SAM-R already is.

Talked to one of my snipers, while he didn't paint his team's he said some of the teams did paint theirs.  (still no pics though).  To add to the conversation we also threw KAC suppressors on ours when those showed up (sadly no pics of that either).  It was the good old days, we had an M40A1 that was still floating around (no platoon would send it back since it was nice to have just in case) and the battalion had a wide range of in theater toys; my favorite was that we had both M79's and M32's at the same time-both were good for specific purposes.

In case anyone wants to suppress just for S&G's it was these:

Changed out the flash hider and they clipped on, worked well on M4's and the SAM-R's.  The SR was already suppressed.  Bought a few seconds which was good since average time before engagement was less than 4 hours in a hide and usually after dumping someone we had to transition to emergency extract as the other side got pissed.  Pic is of a different mission, removal of insurgent infrastructure....(aka an AQI owned/operated gas station).

I'm not sayin' that I'll never paint it; but I'm in no hurry.

Besides, the color of my barrel is too pretty to cover up.

Me, 1000yrd line, shooting steel man-sized silouettes with MK262 Mod-1 (yes we were able to achieve consistant hits with quite a bit of holdover mind you.....)
Note the Range is in a "tunnel" so wind is really not much of an issue here. Great place t get a "no-wind" zero.

WOA SDM upper
TA31F (not my preferred optic)
LMT lower with Geissele SSA-E (of course)

Has a fixed stock now and upper is painted. I will get some more current pics up in about a week or so.

Here is one from 2007 that I had. took the upper overseas, sadly it didnt come back with me but continued to serve with a fellow Soldier for some time. He kept it....
This was an ADCO Built one.

I know they are not exact clones but they served and serve me well.......

That is fucking awesome.
Beautiful SDM-R as well.
ETA: Had a hell of a time getting the RAS bipod nut installed, but she's in.

Norgon and KAC 200-600m should be here tomorrow.

My SDM-R ish clone.

Upper is a Superior Barrels SDM upper.  Lower is a combination of things, and you'll notice the Magpul grip and aftermarket trigger guard.  Bipod is Harris but the adapter is YHM.  ACOG and MaTech buis.

http://www.shop.superiorbarrels.com/product.sc?productId=106&categoryId=13

I am thinking of selling the upper since I've got the SBR bug right now and want to do a MK18 build.

It came from an upper I pulled off the EE that had a few years on it. I assumed it was current production when I bought it but was surprised when it showed up.

Funny you mention the Mod1 cause I've got a new RAS coming in from brownells today that I intended for a Mod1 but the more I think about it a H seems like a more viable 2nd build for me to take on right now since the SAM barrel gets sent off this week and wraps up soon. Too many damn options and too little patience on my end

If you wanna trade that purple for a new one, let me know. I have a new FF RAS coming from OP parts toward the end of the month.

Might even hand deliver it.

We did a little team building with the Germans and swapped weapons at a range one day. Could be something similar.

The SAM-R isn't really for the Sniper section. It's to bridge the gap for rifleman when you don't have a sniper team as support.

SS platoons usually have the leeway to paint their weapons (at least the precision rifles), unless you have a Bn Commander who has a hard on for rules and regulations and doesn't want any weapon painted at all, even if part of your job is to blend in with the habitat....
