Official Mk12 Mod0, Mod1, ModH Photo and Discussion Thread (Page 855 of 1226)
Picked up this today to go on my MOD1. LGS had some made. They got around 25 or so about a week ago I think and I got the last one.
Has safe, semi and auto markings but no faux auto sear. Oh well can't have everything since that's now been arbitrarily decided to be a no go. Will post a pic of the rifle once it's painted to match. Sorry for crappy cell phone pic. |

Last parts ordered for my mod 1. Hopefully this time next week I should have it up and shooting finally.
If anyone is looking for a one stop shop on an Allen Engineering brake and collar set Oakland Tactical (link) has the brake, long collar, thread protector, and crush washer for $119 and roughly $10 shipping. Pretty happy with that price considering Ops Parts or Adco are around $140-$150 for the full kit. Saves a few bucks on an already expensive clone haha. SWFA (link) also has a Badger Gas block for $55 with free shipping. I got a killer deal on a Centurion Mk12 barrel and got it in today. Couldn't wait to put the upper all together so I have it all bolted up. Waiting on the Badger gas block and the AE brake set and upper will be complete. Below I have it mocked up on my KAC stripped lower. Lower has a binary trigger in it so ignore the ambi safety and goofy trigger profile, I use it with my 22lr upper, not going to shoot the Mk 12 with it, just pined together to get an idea of final build. My final lower will be a Brownells A1 lower, A2 stock (taken off my AR10, see how I like it, may replace with an A1 from CavArms), colt LPK, and Geissele DMR trigger (may replace with an SSA-E and put the DMR back in my AR10). Waiting on a buffer tube, buffer, and spring and will have all that completed as well. Last bits down the line are an Ergo Grip and Gas Buster charging handle. Glass is a Nightforce F1 3.5-15x50 with Horus H-58 reticle. I had a chance last weekend to take it out to 300 yards and plink on 4" through 12" steel with cheap ammo. Absolutely love the glass. Got it used already mounted in the Bobro and like the mount. Obviously not clone correct but I am going to roll with it for a while so I can swap it to my AR10 until I figure out a glass situation. I am debating if I want to go with a 2.5-10 on the MK12 and give the AR10 the 3.5-15. Or if i keep the 3.5-15 on the MK12 and bump the AR10 up to a 22x variable scope. Until I make up my mind there I will keep the Bobro and live with the non clone eyesore. Anyone's thoughts or first hand experience with that is welcome. Mk12 will primarily be used to hit the above sized steel targets out to 600-700 range, the AR10 will be used to take over from 700-900+ on steel if I can ever find a place on the family farm to stretch it that far. 
The KAC 99051 is interesting as it is almost worn down to a grey finish and not marked with MFG info. Not sure if it started out black or a very early taupe version and wore into this color. I really dig the worn look and the match to the SS barrel.

I want to retain the brake but have an option to thread something over the brake to lessen the concussion. Like the Surefire Warden does for their socom brake. The above photo with the caption was a prototype of just that item but never came to production Spiked tactical has a device that would do what o want but it is ugly as sin. Hell, you could even draft and dimension a print of that and quote it to a machine ship and ask for only one. Guarantee all quotes will come back at $200 or more if you are only asking for that one. Price breaks from them only come from large orders. I really wish I had the cash to give for that, unfortunately I have multiple open builds right now that I need to devote the money to finishing up. I am envious that you have the lathe and end mill at your disposal to create things like that within a day turn around. I have the equipment in my lab at work but I am not allowed to run personal projects on company equipment, even if it's in my free time. |

| well I called my dealer and my AEM5 showed up! I'll be going tomorrow to fill out the paper and start the long wait....I'm beyond super excited to get my hands on this thing and pray that either the wait time drops dramatically after 41F catches up or the HPA gets passed sooner rather than later and it cuts down on my wait time. It just came in and I'm already impatient! |
