Would you happen to have a link?...I don't know anything about reddit. Thanks http://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/comments/2zmb66/mk12_clone_spec_sheets/ Thanks Milspec I primarily focused on the hardcore 100% clone spec in that list, however there are some budget friendly alternatives that stick 100% to the clone appearance. Great barrel options again are obviously the White Oak Armament SPR barrel, Ballistic Advantage's gets the nod for $$$ for performance. Rainier Arms offers their Match and UltraMatch in the Mk12 SPR contour. Lastly for max cost but 100% SPEC, you can get a Douglas 1:7 twist Mk12 barrel via High Caliber Sales, Compass Lake Engineering, or Precision Reflex. Compass Lake can even spin you a barrel off a Criterion (budget friendly, but very accurate chrome lined barrels) or a Krieger blank (biggest cost but absolute top shelf, considered even better than the Douglas to some. As far as BCGs and other sundry bits go, just stick to Mil Spec type stuff. It doesn't have to be a Colts, but BCM, DD, Toolcraft, LMT, etc all produce excellent BCGs and small parts. Let us know what Mod you are eyeballing and we will set you on the right path. |

As far as I've seen, the only scopes on the USMC Mod 1s and the Army Mod 0 / Hollands have all been the Leupolds. Also, even though we've been told that the x32 ended up getting issued, I don't think we've ever seen a pic of one in the wild. I think all the Hollands we've seen have either been the TS-30s that came off of the Mod 0s when they were swapped out or just one-off scopes that were found in the armory and repurposed. So maybe somewhere a NF is sitting on a Holland, but I don't think we've seen that yet. From an accuracy standpoint, either will do. Both the Leupold and the NF will be plenty powerful and clear for the ranges that the Mk 12 is best at. |

OTOH, the Wylde starts from .223 Rem specs and is adjusted to allow 5.56 pressure ammo safely. Mainly, the CLE Match chamber is designed to work better with 80gr match loads for match shooters. You can't go wrong with either. |

|
Barrels are a key part in a firearm. "Spec" or not, buy what has the better quality (steel, machining, rifling, and finishing), and what fits your budget. Most of what is listed here are good quality barrels. It's up to you if you want to spend $2-300 more for a particular brand name or save thay money to put toward match ammo, or can, or optics, or whatever. If a $500 barrel is a stretch for you, a $275 WOA barrel will suit your needs just great. |

| Hey one thing to not about barrels. I just bought a CLE Douglas in May. Their website lists their SPR barrel as 17.9 inches. Mine is actually 17.75. It says if you want a different length to call their shop. Just sayin. If you want 18 inches, you ought to say something.... |

I thought of heating it up but it will never come off if you do it that way. A torch may do it but on a stainless barrel that doesn't dissipate heat very well I wouldn't want to try it. |

The DD I've not heard that issue, so if you want an ultrasnug fittment you could do the Badger off Brownells or wherever and heat it up (but not too much to affect the hardness I guess). Or just go for the DD. Just got done wiggling a DD Mk12 block back and forth for a couple hours to get it to where it needs to go on my Mod 1. That's after removing material off the inside, too.Yeah I had to hone the Badger I got from LC to get it on. Go slow and check the fit periodically. I'd be willing to bet that torch wouldn't heat the barrel as much as a quick string of shooting would. I wouldn't sweat needing to warm something to remove if necessary. Honing should be fine though. |
