The rifle SSG Robert J. Miller is seen with is what I've been after. Took two months to get the A.R.M.S. parts from Brownells, but the build inches closer. This thing is a lot of fun and very accurate. 
Still need a lower with a trigger (this one is just off an A4), but the project does inch forward. |

I think someone mentioned a Mod H with a Mk6 1-6x a few pages back. I decided to throw my Mk6 on my holland in progress and took a couple pics, it's just a little under 9.5lbs as pictured, the 3.5-10x is only a couple oz heavier. If it were 5.56 I could see running it with the Mk6 but its a little heavy for what it is, by comparison my SR-15 with the Mk6 is under 8lbs (no bipod on the KAC).
As a short sub 10lb SPR I think the Mod-H is the ticket, for more of a recce type setup I think I'd lean towards something more along the lines of some of the rifles pictured in the short recce thread. Of course, I may just be a girly man and need to man the fuck up and deal with it, 10lbs is only 10lbs after all.

Pics will be required. Yes. Standing by for pics and AAR. The Elcan is going on my SR-15, which is where the Mk6 currently resides. I only put the Mk6 on the Holland to take a quick pic for the recce thread and to weigh it, I have a 3.5-10x for the Holland that I am happy with. The Holland is a 6.5 Grendel so I only use it to shoot steel out as far as I can (I hope to shoot some delicious animals with it next year) and rarely use it on anything other than 10x. I had plans to turn the Holland as it sits now into a 5.56 version with a 13.7" Noveske barrel, I was planning to order a AE5 after the first of the year and thought that a mini Holland along the lines of what a couple other guys have done would be sweet. That was all before I lost my mind and spent all my gun money on the Elcan. I wanted the Elcan for the SR-15 even before I bought the rifle, but I plan to give the Mk6 a fair chance to stay and have been happy with it thus far. I'll throw the Elcan on the Holland and take some pictures of it, I'll sling a couple rounds too for good measure. I feel kind of silly playing dress up barbie with an AR but I promise to stop short of paint filling my lower markings and getting custom engraved dust covers (no offense to those that do, free country/do what you want, just not my style). If I do eventually get a can and put together a 13.7" Holland upper I think the Elcan or Mk6 would be a good fit. |

Gents, anyone got leads on the KAC RAS Sling Swivel mount for the Uncle Mike's style sling swivels? As mentioned, someone nabbed the last two off O-P like Sunday/Monday before I could order one, and now I can't find em anywhere.
KAC Sling mount @ Operationparts, OOS The only other sites listing it are also OOS, as is KAC's own site. They don't list them the same as OP does, but they sell a sling swivel conversion for QD mounts that is like $60 I really could use one of these to tie up my Mod 0 until the AEM5 is in and I can get a NDS A1 lower somehow.
EDIT: SWM, can you get some closeups/disassembly on that adapter between the TAS-1 hook and the KAC swivel? I'll probably have to homebrew it since I don't thing mine was actually a TAS-1 UMSS. |
