It’s hard to put paint on a mint URGI. I think I’m going to paint my lower but leave the upper alone, seems like you see that a lot currently in USASOC. |

I kind of wish my 14.5 upper were unpainted but I still do like it. It's wearing really nicely with actual use, too. I like the 11.5 upper being unpainted with a painted lower. I actually recently convinced my brother to let me paint his. We both have completely correct uppers and it took a while to convince him  |

It may not be in line with the 5 S’s of camouflage but I personally really like the shiny rails |

I think it will be a nice companion to my 14.5 URGI with ATACR 1-8. |

New 11.5” setup. After some thought I decided to sell my 10.3 URGI since I have three other 10.3” CQBR’s. Replaced it with an 11.5” instead. This particular MK16 rail is definitely a darker bronze color and my lighting didn’t pick it up very well. The previous 10.3 had an Aimpoint T2 on a Unity mount, this one got a Razor instead.

I took a side by side photo to show just how much darker this batch of DDC is compared to my older MK16. There are also some changes to the markings. My older 13.5” MK16 was an early production version, I don’t remember specifically when I bought it, but I found pictures from back in 2020 of the rifle so it had to be around that timeframe. The older MK16’s Geissele and NSN marking look almost roll marked. I’m not sure if they really were or just lighter engraving. The new production 2025 MK16 has very obvious engraved markings. Nothing wrong with either in my opinion, just an interesting difference between the two. As for the color variation, that is very well disclosed by Geissele so to be expected. I think the darker DDC is kind of cool. Kind of has a RIS II color vibe with the darker bronze/brown and polymer FDE contrast. This first photo just highlights how much darker it is compared to a Badger C1 mount, Arisaka clear anodize for the scout mount, the Surefire Scout and RC2, and polymer FDE parts. And of course, it gets lighter and darker based on lighting.

Still here contemplating if I want to start a build or not. I'm sort of waiting to see some steel QD inserts in the wild so it'll make my search easier. If not, I'll just build up a mix-mash updated Block II. |
