| So, back in the long-ago times, I bought the original SB15 brace kit, complete with a buffer tube. Has anybody build one of these? The pictures seem to indicate that it just used an endplate and not a castle nut, but can anyone confirm? I never used the tube that came with it, I got a KAK tube, but now I'm doing some "spare parts" builds and I think I want to use this tube, but I don't know how... Thanks in advance to anyone who can help... |

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help... Pretty sure they use just a standard round pistol tube so all you'd need is the end plate and castle nut. Round tubes come in a few different sizes (diameter) so make sure that whatever you want to put on that tube will fit it. |
No, I bought some kind of a kit back in the day that came with its own buffer tube. You can kind of see it in this pic (best I could find): All the pictures I've ever seen of this tube don't seem to use a castle nut. I did a little Googling of pistol tubes today, and apparently that was a thing. Seems like RRA and PSA, at least, may also have made that type of pistol tube back in the day. Not sure anybody still does, and I'm guessing there's a reason. Guess I'll give it a try, what could go wrong?

Some use a castle nut and some don't. There is no reason to index a round tube so the end plate can be superfluous. My CQB brace has a tube similar to that, but shorter. |
