I’m new here - about to start my first build. Picked up an ar15.com reciever from a user on another local forum who is also on this one (obviously) and decided to join. I’ll be digging around in the forums but any helpful links sent my way would be appreciated. Any tips for sourcing tools on the cheap? |

I'm looking to learn as much information I can before my state tries to remove my ability to buy a good weapon when SHTF and civilization goes sideways. I have done preliminary research and know I want an AR-15 capable with all .223 REM/5.56 NATO/.223 Wylde ammo for maximum ammo availability/convenience. I want a rifle I can use for defense and hunt if necessary. I'll probably hover around for a while and observe before posting anything more meaningful. |

Don't be afraid to speak up and ask questions, there's plenty of knowledge here to go around. Just an FYI, There is no .223 Wylde ammo. The designation refers only to a chambering. |

hey new here. looking to build my first AR. thinking about going with a PSA pistol kit for a 10.5" 300BLK build. I have a stripped lower. also, thinking about a BCM upper and getting the lower parts kit from PSA. Maybe a geissele trigger though? lots of questions and thinking to do. thank you all in advance for all the questions I will ask! sigs76 |

Hey guys new member here! I'm not new to the AR platform but I don't know how to work on them, so I'm starting to learn now. I have an AR15 rifle and Saint pistol. I have questions about a tucked handguard for my rifle, 16" barrel with an Omega 36M can on it. I'm looking to hide it as much as possible and can't for the life of me find an 18" handguard that will clear that can. So my first question is; anyone tucking an Omega 36M? If so, which handguard did you use? Also, I previously had my old handguard wrapped in leather, I like the look but I'm wondering if it's tucked will it have an effect on the gas disbursement or anything negative like that? Thanks in advance every! Cheers |

Thanks in advance every! Cheers So, Midwest Industries has their Suppressor Series Handguards in 18" lengths. They have an I.D. of 1.67". The issue is that, per Midwest, they only accommodate suppressors with an O.D. of 1.55" (I assume they're accounting for barrel whip). Looking at the Omega 36M, I see it has an O.D. of 1.57". If you're not adverse to a little sanding on the inside of the handguard, and then using some aluminum black, you can take the 0.02" off the inside of the handguard and make it work, then touchup when you're done.
