PSA AR-15 16" MID-LENGTH 5.56 NATO 1/7 NITRIDE 13.5" LIGHTWEIGHT M-LOK MOE EPT RIFLE W/MBUS SIGHT SET. I just purchased this from PSA it came with backup sites (polymer) my 68 year old eyes are having a hard time seeing the front site. I have a Holosun HE510C-GR green dot which works great. Should I just lose the backup sites and make room for 3x Magnifier. No I won’t shoot it that much . It’s just a defense just in case rifle. Looks cool next to my Beretta A300 ultimate patrol. Funny though I can see the peep sites co witness. Through a Holosun 507C. On the A300 |

IMHO, Lose the backup sight... and the front one as well. Your Holosun has a 50,000 hour life / battery. And your Holsun is "probably" as durable as those back up sights. |

Self defense rifle? If you think your life is worth $100, buy a cheap Chinese made red dot for $100. If you think your life is worth more, buy an Aimpoint. And the Aimpoints work great with old eyes. |

There’s an old rule that you should never change your gear unless you shot it for a 1000 rounds. Whatever you decide to do you should shoot it for at least 1k rounds just to see if it is feasible or not. There is no way any of us would know if your setup works or not but what I can say is that if you never train for it then it’s probably more of a liability than if your gear choice is justified or not. |

Maybe but I had Aimpoint pro on my last rifle. I had some starburst on the red dot I like the Holosun green dot a lot better. And I think it’s faster and works with my eyes 🤷♂️ The polymer backup sites do not . |

I have bad astigmatism and can't use an eotech because of the ring of fire, but turn down the intensity on the PRO or ML2 and the red dot becomes clear. Polymer sight are fine but in low light you wont see them. The holosun is fine but it won't hold up in adverse conditions like the Aimpoint. |
