Could you explain what you're feeling is missing? Looks like a solid setup. One of the nice things about the AR platform is modularity and availability of aftermarket parts. The down side is they're modular, and there's a buttload of aftermarket parts. Even when you get the recipe right, you begin to second guess your decisions. |

The gun is very front heavy so I am trying to find something to balance that out, was gonna go with a lpvo but more heavy then the red dot and don't really shoot past 100 yards. Just trying to get other people's input because I feel like I could do better lol. I had that rifle for awhile now but never fell in love with it |

I set my ARs up for what I actually do with them, as opposed to some wildly improbable hypothetical contingency. That gun looks like it got set up for "combat" circa 2015. Set it up to have fun doing whatever you do with it. To cure front heavy, replace the quad rail with a lightweight M Lok. Put a smaller, lighter light on it. I like Inforce WMLs for that. Ditch the BUIS and whatever that thing behind the front BUIS is. After that, put a good trigger in, like a G2S or SSA-e, if it doesn't have a good trigger already. Maybe replace the dot with an LPVO, but that's not a huge deal for 100 and in. I like fancy charging handles just because they feel good. Get a suppressor, if you don't have one. These kinds of things will make the gun more fun to shoot. |

I really like that setup. I prefer lighter weight setups too so I get it. That stock you are using is pretty heavy. I personally do not like heavier stocks. It feels to me like wasted weight. CTR or the Mission First Tactical one for me. Optic, rail, and light change can save ounces to pounds depending. Also a pencil barrel would help a lot. At some point we are talking basically whole new rifle though and you are spending a ton of money just to save weight. What you have already is a rugged (presumably reliable) package with high quality components. You wont truly improve upon it. Maybe an Aimpoint T1 and then the Prinary Arms micro magnifier. Flexible and still light weight. None of this is needed though. You have a nice setup. Restless rifle syndrome. I get it. |

Pretty i am using it for is home defense, shooting, drills, stuff like that. I had a government profile barrel but it had a defect so they asked if I wanted the more expensive better socom barrel for no charge so they shipped me that instead of the other one. Charging handle is a bcm. |

I had a government profile barrel and it had a defect so the company didn't have anymore so they offered me the socom barrel at no extra charge so I took it. I got a whole bunch of stocks like the ctr and I used this one to try and balance the weight out. Might remove the pressure pad and just use a tail cap cause it's a pain to use since the rail is so thick. Rifle comes in 8.8 pounds |

Charging handle is a bcm. Start with replacing the handguard and ditching the pressure pad and BUIS. 8.8 pounds is heavy for a red dot sighted carbine. I bet you drop a pound just with these things. It's minimal investment and readily reversible if you don't like it. If you've never shot an AR with a really good trigger, see if you can. Then, decide if it's worth the money. There should be a very big difference between something like the PNT and a G2S. Second stage of a G2S will be about 2.5 lbs. PNTs are probably 6+/- lbs. |

Might remove the pressure pad and just use a tail cap cause it's a pain to use since the rail is so thick. Rifle comes in 8.8 pounds I have found pressure pads on quad rails difficult as well. I will put them on the side of the rail. On the top rail I have to shift my grip uncomfortably to make it work. Downside is you are more likely to AD the light. Generally a tail cap is a solid solution. But for me the light ends up possibly taking up space where a sling might mount if i want the sling as far forward as possible. Since, for me, I now need to move the light to the side closest to me if I am using a tail cap. I have heard some squared away guys talk about how they keep the light on the offside and can operate the light just fine with their thumb. To me that's awkward. I have tried it. Finally, tail cap isn't a bullet proof solution either. I have gotten tailcaps stuck on while shooting using a temporary activation press. I also have had switch cables fail. Everything is a trade off. The SOCOM profile is a great upgrade. I would take pencil or SOCOM depending over government. |

Thanks for the response, unlike some assholes commenting on here.Yeah I tried the tailcap, and seems uncomfortable, especially trying to reach with my thumb. Might buy another weapon light and switch around and see what is better. |

I had that rifle for awhile now but never fell in love with it Prism optic, lighter weight handguard, lighter and slimmer stock. I'd worry less about optic weight as it's more centered weight and you'll be dropping weight off the front (the most noticable) and possibly rear. There are a good number of lpvps that are just over a pound as well. |

There's an unlimited number of things you can change out. I guess a lot of it is fear driven with the rifle possibly being banned in the future. My thought is if this is your ONLY rifle then maybe buy a spare lower and stripped upper to keep around so you can future proof yourself. Otherwise, I would just go shoot it more in the mean time. |
