More pistol cutaways for your enjoyment, from left to right:
357mag Exploder, hollow point filled with black powder and a primer cap on top, Speer/ 357 38spl 3D, grey Teflon coated aluminum bullet, 3D/ 38spl+p, called the Equaloy, loaded by Axiom, distributed by Kendall Inter., who gave it to 3D. Super high velocity at close ranges, can penetrate low level Kevlar, 38.5 grs 10mm Hydra Shock Copperhead, FC/ 10mm auto 38spl Hydra Shock, Hydrashock/ 38spl 38spl Cookie Cutter (38J), hollow copper projectile with plastic pusher, PMC/ 38spl. Pretty neat. I know how much I paid for my .38 and .44 spcl "Cookie Cutters" 25 years ago. I don't think I would want to be cutting them up. What's the point of the "Exploder" round? Never heard of one before. HAve you ever fired one into soft tissue and compared it to a regular .357? |

The Cookie Cutter was bought at a cartridge show for $3. Paid for another for $5 on line. The brass version, only being made for one year, is worth more around $30 - if you can find one! They some what failed and only lasted for a couple of years.
Never shot any of the Exploders myself, have them in 9mm and .380 too. They are made in many calibers. Really need to hit something hard with them, steel or concrete block. Maybe I'm dating myself, but remember back on March 30, 1981 when John Hinkly Jr shot Ronald Reagan. He used a similar bullet in .22 caliber called the "Devastator". The hollow points are filled with aluminum powder and lead azide explosive. Reagan was hit with a ricochet but did not explode, the same with 2 (?) others, but James Brady was struck in the neck and that one exploded.
