Marine Recon M4 (Page 1 of 7)

[Last Edit: StuartBoyer][Edited]
Been trying to find more details and pics out there for a Marine Recon M4 build (the one with the ergo extensions), just doesn't seem to be a lot out there on them. Anyone have any pics or videos we haven't seen of them? Most setups I have seen for them appear in these videos ![]() Force Recon "M4 Carbine & M45 Pistol" Combat Marksmanship Training ![]() Failed To Load Title ![]() Recon Marines Conduct House Clearing Drills All of them seem to run Knights M4 RAS Rails with Ergo M4 Forward Rails at the FSP, KAC Rear sights, NT4 flash hiders, and PEQ-15. What varies and appears to be the most common components in the video and few pics out there are: Stocks: Standard Waffle Magpul Moe SL Magpul Moe SL-K Magpul STR Magpul CTR Mission First Tactical BATTLELINK Minimalist Stock Grips: Standard A2 BCMgunfighter Mod 3 Magpul K2 (seen only once) Vertical Grips: BCMgunfighter vertical grip BCMgunfighter vertical grip mod 3 BCMgunfighter KAG Troy Modular Combat Grip Magpul AFG Optics: (I forgot the military designation on the Eotech models) EOTech EXPS3 EOTech 512/552 EOTech G33 Magnifier Aimpoint CompM4 (haven't seen a M4S) Aimpoint T-2 Elcan Spectre SU269 Vortex Razor in a Geissele mount. Lights: Streamlight TLR non long gun Streamlight TLR Long Gun Model Streamlight Protac Rail (appears to be the HL-X but hard to tell) Surefire DF with DS00 rear and remote (only seen once so may be an individual purchase) Charging Handle: PRI Big Latch Standard model Sling Mounts: Magpul RSA QD Slings: Blue Force Gear Vickers Standard Issue Blue Force Gear Vickers Padded EDIT: will update as I find new gear. Noticed they vary greatly in over all gear used but per unit seem to follow themes among the members . IE when ever I have seen a Streamlight Protac its always been with a Troy Modular grip and Magpul MOE stock rifle setup. Also noticed the optics choices per unit seems to be 50/50 on a EOTech 552 or Aimpoint CompM4 where another units is 50/50 EOTech EXPS3 and Aimpoint CompM4. |

We have AFSOC and NSW threads, so why not a Recon/Force Recon thread too!

We were not authorized to change stocks or grips, but other units, like MARSOC and FR, could, at times. MARSOC and FR had a small choice optics that were available to them, but it was all dependent on timeframe and what was in the armory. When we patrolled with FR in country, they all just had standard M4 with RCO that we were issued. |
If you ever crawl inside an old hollow log and go to sleep, and while you're in there some guys come and seal up both ends and then put it on a truck and take it to another city, boy, I don't know what to tell you.

Here's the vid where I thought they were using sigs. I guess the optic color confused me, but they are razors. ![]() Failed To Load Title Attached File |

Served 21 years in our glorious Corps! With the exception of 3+ years on MSG Duty (Embassy Duty) in late 80s, I was an 03 to the bone! Nothing but Victor Units way before there even was a MARSOC who's mission greatly differs from Recon Units. Learned that as a Bn Ops Chief tasking Recon Units after drafting COAs for the BC. If you were in the Suck you were born again hard at P.I with the belief you could nail anything after hitting center mass out to 500 yds with only iron sights! Also, I'm damn sure any Marine was thrashed if he/she ever tried this Army move while shooting the AR - Placing your support hand around the magwell as if it were a vertical foregrip! One of my biggest pet peeves which I personally witnessed "soldiers" having mis-feeds due to unseating the magazine by this stupid move! However, the Army did get the Sig contract as their new Optic, which one slid off the line while fielding and fell onto my Geissele. Hated the ACOG and actually used an Eotech in OIF which saved my ass 10x over!As stated above, "most" Marines do not have the option to run whatever they want for optics or modify their rifles with tricked out gear - was lucky enough to be on the T&E crew for L3 at the time! Sure wish I had a MAWL instead of the shitty PEQ when I was there! Lastly, as a wicked Eotech fan I couldn't help but pick up something in your spec sheet at the top OP. I'm pretty sure it's a G33, not a G34 but I knew what ya meant. Gung Ho - Gung Ho.... |
