I always thought this was one of the main benefits of the MRP system. Thanks for the explanation. My issue started before I even took my MD off. Out of the box my reaction rod didnt fit. I had to take the barrel off to get the A2 off and that took very little force. I didnt use my reaction rod for disassembly or install. So I dont feel like I caused this issue. I have under 100rds through my barrel and there are sharp burs that have formed on the teeths of my barrel extension from contact with my bcg. I noticed this after a range trip while doing a whip down. I noticed that my cotton swaps were catching on the edges of the teeths of the extension. I smoothed them out with a diamond rod but Im thinking will this cause issues further down the road? |

It's not just two bolts. If you've got a ton of Mlok accessories on the gun, you have to remove all of those to pull the barrel. This obviously doesn't apply to the Quad rails. There's no reason why a reaction rod can't or shouldn't be used in an MRP upper. LMT customer service is pure trash. The holier than thou attitude is irritating. I like their products but I have to twist my arm to get myself to buy anything from them these days after the way i've been treated. |

I agree that LMT's CS is spotty at best. |

After wanting an MRP since I cancelled my order for one in 2008 and went with a DD instead, I have a Specwar upper and 16" barrel on the way. Upon randomly searching and seeing Rooftop defense had a deal for MRPs with lightly used 16" barrels for a song, I couldn't pass it up. This leaves me with a conundrum where I would like some input, I want a 12.5" barrel, and I will run this gun suppressed 100% of the time with a non flow through, 30 cal can. I've seen a lot of reports of "combat gassing" even after cutting. My current upper is a carbine length 12.5" with a superlative arms gas block that is very soft shooting, reliable, and not terribly gassy. Do I: 1. Have D Wilson (his shop is less than 20 minutes from me) cut the LMT 16" barrel, and see what happens? I could follow this up by playing with buffers and springs, or getting the BRT gas tube. 2. Add the adjustable gas block install to my D Wilson order and use a Superlative with the LMT barrel. 3. Skip this altogether, get the 12.5" barrel of my choice, get the MRP barrel extension conversion, and be able to do anything else I need tuning-wise myself due to the standard parts? I would likely sell the 16" barrel (or keep and get a 13" MRP Upper down the road....) Option 1 would likely be the least expensive, and I could get it cut, shoot, assess, and add the BRT tube or change to a heavier buffer if needed. That is the way I'm leaning. |

Have Dave cut it back on order a BRT gas tube in the event that its a little gassy. I ran a sandman K on my factory specwar and it ran very nice. sold it as I prefered my 12 inch piston set up. |

Option 1 would likely be the least expensive, and I could get it cut, shoot, assess, and add the BRT tube or change to a heavier buffer if needed. That is the way I'm leaning. I did number 1 also after getting a Rooftop Defense deal. I have a Sprinco Green, A5H2 buffer, and a Griffin Recce5k on mine. It is 100% suppressed and using the LMT gas tube. It is one of the softer shooting guns I have. I also swapped in a Bootleg adjustable BCG and also tried the new Griffin Enhanced BCG. The only comparison I did with them was shoot some rounds, swap in the other and shoot some rounds. No chrono, etc because I didn't care that much. The only difference I noticed was the sound. It was still a soft shooter. I left the Griffin BCG in because it was the one I swapped in last and I saw no need to go back to the Bootleg out of pure laziness. Not related but something else I wanted to pass along in case anyone comes across the same issues. I have an MWS (7.62x51) 13.5" SBR 100% suppressed with a direct thread Omega 300. Way overgassed with the Omega and most of the time wouldn't fire more than one round, maybe two before a malfunction due to bolt speed. I read on another site where Uncle Moak said since the LMT gas tubes are straight, to remove it, spin it 180* and drill a new gas hole. I did just that and I believe I used a .040 drill bit because it was the smallest I had and was just going to go up incrementally until it ran well. Well, a 100% suppressed 13.5" MWS runs just fine with a .040 gas hole with an Omega 300. It is also a soft shooter. I am also using a Heavy Buffers XH buffer and spring combo. I tried different buffers/springs before drilling with no positive effect. It is a single shot without the suppressor and I haven't tested it in cold weather although I don't see ambient temps affecting it. If the .040 becomes an issue while suppressed, I'll go up another drill bit size. Thanks for the tip because I was about to buy a BRT tube for the MWS. |
