So I have a MPS with the Timney trigger from Sig. I also have a Cornfield FRT and a Super Safety. How do I get something to work with the MPX? Do I need the trigger bar and a Slip Trip? Or another FRT design? Appreciate the help. Tired of spending money on things that don't work. |

A lot of people will recommend different setups but honestly most of them haven't actually tested setups past 200 rounds on the MPX because if they did they would see that the MPX kills basically about everything you put in it and swapping to a ILWT barrel to slow the carrier down only works kinda at best and even that the adjustable gas key hole will blow itself out eventually due to the way the MPX works (no fault on the ILWT guy hes cool but the gun itself is something else lol). Right now the only long term setup that will actually hold up is a Super safety (cut upper) or ARC-fire (uncut upper) with the ASD trip kit using the original 9 pound pull factory FCG with its disconnector shield, that said you gotta make sure the trip isn't binding or doing anything weird as it has a ton of tolerances with the FCGs and generations of MPXs. Also using a factory style open gas key. Some guys will say rarebreed style drop in with a PMM trip bar but again if they actually shot the gun more then a few mags they would eventually get a semi mode that acts like a binary because the carrier will kill that FRT eventually. I only know this because i have a stupid amount of rounds on a MPX as i have been using it for durability testing arc-fire, Also the geissele recoil springs can help some but even those can only do so much. |

That said tho just be aware that its likely going to require alot of maintenance and id have spare parts on hand, for example inside of 10K rounds my MPX broke a extractor and extractor spring, knocked the ejector screws out, killed a geissele MPX FCG, killed a ILWT barrel gas key like it basically blew the gas keys hole out. Also i had to replace the recoil springs to slow the carrier down with the factory barrel as it was moving so fast it was causing FTE tho this was much later in my testing. Again its a very cool gun in terms of shooting it and controls and such but its frustrating to deal with the issues and the faster ROF of something like a FRT will SIGNIFICANTLY amplify these issues if you shoot alot. Also the mags like to just stop locking the carrier back once they get dirty so you gotta clean those pretty often also. |

For those of us with the Timney trigger pack as the stock trigger, what would you buy for use with the Arc Fire? |

Unfortunate ATM there isn't really a good option since sig doesn't sell the correct FCG needed anymore, I'm working on a solution for the MPX that gives the same durability as the factory original MPX FCG with a bit of a better trigger pull, we are also trying to get sig to sell the factory FCG but thats tbd still. If you can find the original MPX FCG somewhere used id buy that, yea it sucks the trigger pull weight is horrible but its the best option if you wanna shoot fast as of this moment and it wont beat itself to death. |

Is a good summary the trigger can be made to work but the mpx will consume itself at this rate of fire? Gas ports blowing and broken bolts and extractors and carrier issues make it sound like my old race car. I’d have to work on it all week for a few passes on Friday. Fun yeah, but reliably consistent, no. I’m in line to get a ronin SD conversion and might just stop there for now. |

The SD versions of the MPX seems to be easier on parts, i haven't tested the SD conversions myself but ASD does have a MPX SD that they have run pretty hard and its done really well compared to the standard MPX. But yea the shooting the MPX fast basically you just gotta expect to be replacing parts pretty often. |

I've abused my MPX Copperhead K severely at this point. 2 position AZR and now the 3 position AZR with a "customized" mil-spec trigger. Frankenstein Armory trip bar. It runs like a top and has regardless of what I have thrown at it as far as ammo and mag dumps. It is very violent to the FCG and had some breakage of the disconnect in the original 2 position AZR mode which was a HiperFire EDTHG. Since switching over to the 3 position it has been smooth sailing. It is an absolutely blast to fire and is running neck and neck for top position as my favorite to shoot only to my SP5. Link to my Youtube with the MPX. Please not the fireworks from the 115 grain ammo inc 9mm. It will not be in any of our guns from here on out. MPX K |

The hammer slamming into the disconnector so hard from the high velocity of the bolt carrier. Normally you can swap the hammer or disconnector to fix this issue if running mil spec instead of the dedicated MPX FCG. Some FRTs disengage the disconnector in the FRT mode so they might seem like they are working fine if you never shoot (slow) Semi but once you start shooting (slow) semi you will eventually kill anything that isn't specifically designed to work in the MPX and finding replacement parts for those FRTs is basically impossible. The ARC and SS are able to get around this issue by using the factory MPX FCG witch have a shelf that protects the disconnector from this abuse tho the bolt carrier is still VERY abusive to the reset parts. Basically unless using the factory MPX FCG expect the FCG parts to be consumable with replacements needed with as little as 500 rounds. |

The wear isn't always clearly visible like with my MPX geissele the FCG parts look fine but its a binary now I'm sure if i took calibers to them i could find where its deforming and by how much, with mil spec its much more obvious you'll see significant deformation where the hammer tail touches the disconnector and this normally happens pretty quick it will start pushing the material out in that area much more then you would normally see in something like a AR15. The disconnector spring damage also isn't easily visible but that's often times another failure point, sometimes swapping just the disco spring can extend the life some. Even with the factory MPX FCG the hammer is still slamming into the tip of the disconnector very hard yet i have never had a issue with that FCG so i think its likely due to the material those parts are made out, they also use overkill springs witch is why the trigger pull weight is so bad, I'm sure those spring also help and of course the disconenctor shelf that comes with the MPX factory FCG shields the disconnector from the hammer same as you would see with a HK416 FCG. Really the main areas to look at would be all the places the hammer makes contact with the trigger and disconenctor, tho just looking at the parts likely wont tell you if somethings wrong you will need to function check letting off the trigger as slow as possible to see if the FCG is still functional. |

I have an MPX SBR with RB3 FRT and PMM trip bar. ILWT 4.5in barrel, suppressed, Geissele recoil springs. It worked properly for a couple of mags. Then changed out the ambi selector to one made by a member here. Worked for a mag or two and then semi mode would do random FRT mode. Put the original selector back in to see if that was the issue and still get random FRT mode in semi so a little frustrating. Still fun to shoot, but would love to have it working properly in all modes. |

How long did your Geissele trigger last before running into problems? I'm curious about this because I was looking into using the Geissele trigger with the ASD slip trip in an MPX K, shooting 147gr subs for the most part. I'm not sure how much shooting subs only would slow wear, really. While the Geissele MPX trigger is expensive, it's still cheaper than the Rare Breed. I've seen a few people saying they haven't had any issues using the Rare Breed in an MPX K, but I've seen a couple others say their RB trigger died from it. |

You won't see the wear you will just eventually start getting binary fire or just hammer follow same as you would with a RB or any other drop in FRT that works in the MPX. Its essentially deforming the disconnector tip or hammer disco catch tip from the force of the hammer slamming into the disco. Anyone claiming they have a flawless working FRT in the MPX isn't actually testing the gun to a point this would become a issue or they are using non factory parts like a ILWT barrel which prolongs the life of the FCG parts (tho even with a ILWT barrel i have blown out the gas hole in a few 1000 rounds). Like with the factory setup I'm lucky to make it 4K rounds before the gun itself starts falling apart and this is on multiple MPXs not just one they are pretty consistently garbage. The only way to have any sort of long term consistency with a factory setup is the factory 8 pound trigger and bridge with our updated MPX trip kit and arc fire v2 so far this is the only thing that has actually been able to consistently out last the gun itself. https://x.com/s3igu2/status/2015562171539698091?s=20 |

Could the Geissele MPX trigger bridge be modified to work with the slip trip and protect the disconnector? It's an expensive trigger but at least it's readily available to purchase, as opposed to the MPX's old factory trigger. Maybe the MPX isn't worth trying to FRT. It seems like the Turk MP5 clones might be a better bet? It's a shame though. The AR-style controls and ease of working on the MPX are attractive features. |

I decided to move my FRT's away from my MPX. The trigger slap was brutal enough that making it through a mag or two was extremely painful. With the detailed reports here and in other threads about the abusiveness to the system, my trigger slap seemed to confirm. I put together a 9mm upper (CMMG) for frt fun. |

It will be coming out along side the MCX 277/308 trip bar, its just significantly beefed up and fixes a issue where some MPXs would break the old trip bar. Since these parts are dependent on ARC V2 (atleast the 277/308 MCX trip bar is as you need the ARC V2 308 lever for the mcx 277 and 308) it will be coming out sometimes after v2 drop. |

My Partisan's came from the first batch sold by Battlehawk Armory. After the Partisan issues I had, I decided to leave my MPX alone with the RB that was working well in it. What I did to mitigate trigger slap is run minor pf ammo. I reload, so it isn't a problem for me, but you might be able to buy some if you don't. My MPX-K is factory except for the trigger. |

Ok, I am a bit confused. I have a Gen2 MPX with the factory FCG. I have a Frankenstein trip bar. If I buy an ARC Fire will it work in this setup? I have tried a AZR 3 position today with the FCG that came with it and it did not work. Previous to that I had a DTT 3 position and it worked perfect but had massive trigger slap so I figured it would destroy itself so I took it out. Really want to make the MPX work. It was a blast with the DTT and a can with subsonic ammo. |

It has its hiccups and doesn't run reliably. ASdesigns basically told him they have some variances in some bar and his needed tweaking. But my question is, if you had it work with the DTT 3 position, why not try to find a way to mitigate the trigger slap ? |

I’m in the same boat and going to try a RB 2-stage with PMM trip bar later this week. From everything I’ve read, the MPX bolt cycles very fast and things to do are aftermarket gas valve, which erodes and it’s back to square one, and stronger recoil springs. Nothing really works besides a design to avoid the hammer coming down and hitting the trigger. |

Also I was worried that the MPX would destroy the DTT. I have a dealer local that will have the ARC Fire in stock at the end of this week and I am considering buying it. On the AZR 3 position, Semi works fine. Put it in the 3rd position it fires the first round then it chambers a round but the trigger is down with hardly any visible primer strike. Just a dead trigger. Not sure what is going on with it. Tried several ammo types. I'd love to make the AZR work but not sure how to diagnose what is going wrong with it. It function tests fine but on live fire it doesn't work. |

Sounds like hammer follow, where the hammer goes back with the bolt and follows the bolt forward without ever a chance to reset. So you get dead trigger. I think that happens when it’s too fast hence they use h3 buffers on an ar15 to slow it down some. I didn’t even know the AZR was an option for the MPX and I guess you have us the reason why it’s not |

Previous to that I had a DTT 3 position and it worked perfect but had massive trigger slap so I figured it would destroy itself so I took it out. Really want to make the MPX work. It was a blast with the DTT and a can with subsonic ammo. If you want to use the Arc Fire, you have to use the AS Designs Trip also. The Frankenstein trip bar won't work with it. |

I have the AZR-15A1 (Arizona Regulator 3 POS) and Frankenstein trip bar. I cut off the large hammer hook to significantly minimize the trigger slap. Comparing the trigger slap using a DTT / Partisan / RB and Frankenstein trip bar, it eliminated about 90% of that slap. It did not eliminate it completely, but it doesn't bother me whatsoever (I don't even need to wear gloves). I have tried AS Designs & James Bell (Skunkwerks) MPX Slip Trip Kit w/ ARC-Fire (both V1 & V2). I did the same to the hammer; cut the large hook off. Same result as above; eliminated about 90% of trigger slap. If you're leaning towards this combo, I would recommend the MPX Slip Trip Kit from James Bell (Skunkwerks) over AS Designs because it is a lot cheaper and a lot stronger. |

It sounds like a AZR 3P and the PMM trip that I already have installed may be workable for my Copperhead-K? I pulled the RB 3P I was using because of trigger slap. Edit - I’m not sure it’s worth the risk. MPX parts are a bitch to get, and if I bend it the damage could be a small fortune to fix. I had fun with the RB but I think I should just be happy with my FRT equipped AR9 and a possible FRT for my SP5 and/or SP5K-PDW if they prove to be durable. Kind of like my 5.56 FRT philosophy - keep it cheap and repairable. My FRTs have Aero barrel uppers. |
