I was planning to get an ECOS Acog for this, but like the Eotech more than I thought I would. Might need to get another so this one can go back to the CQBR Block II

Real nice, but just my opinion it would be perfect with a SOCOM Mini.

Was there ever a SOCOM issued sling for the Block II program?

The Tac Ordnance NAVSPECWARCOM CQBWS was issued in the mid 2000s as part of the Phased Replacement upgrade suite, essentially a contract produced copy of the Blackhawk Deiter CQD sling (or maybe Blackhawk bought the design from them, not sure). Outside of that I've seen a lot of VTAC, BFG, and Blackhawk slings used

Starting a new block 1 and block 2. The block 2 rail is still in the wrap. I get to break the seal, but having a hard time going through with it. Makes me wish I’d gotten a beat up one as it’s going to get painted anyway. Got a non nsn 4 prong, a new old stock colt barrel, and all the accessories. Just need an another mk12 gas block and I’ll be ready to assemble. Might use my older m4a1 dd ris ii with the old style bottom half and save this one for another build. Upper is a colt cerro with a purplish hue.

Alright, I haven't posted much but have been a retro guy for about 18 years and have surfed ARFCOM for years as well.  Decided to step out of my retro comfort zone and put together a recce rifle, and got interested in the Block II, so looking for advice on an optic.

I picked up an upper on the EE (Geissele upper with DD mid-length 14.5 barrel/RIS II, with P&W Surefire flash hider.   I recognize it's not exactly "clone correct", but wanted a mid-length barrel so there is some wiggle room here for the other components.

Will pick up a DD BCG and probably a Colt M4A1 marked lower for this one.

For optics, I have two sitting on the shelf: 1) Vortex 1-6 X 24 Strike Eagle (the FDE OPMOD version), and 2) Trijicon 1-6 X 24 Credo.

Which optic would you guys recommend I use on the Block II?  The other one will go on my BCM Recce rifle (Standard BLACK 16" Mid Length MCMR-13).  I can upgrade optics later, but don't have the money right now for a VCOG, NightForce, etc.  I want to stick with an LPVO but will pick up a micro red dot as a backup at some point.

If it makes any difference, I'm old and broken now and will be doing most of my shooting from a bench.  That's why I'm starting to move away from the iron sights.

It’s a Hazard 4 Takedown pack. I haven’t seen them available for several years.
They have a few other versions that are very similar. I’ve got three others, with one being a shorter version that is great for a 10.5” with a LawTac folder.

There’s a can pouch and a Gerber Deployment Kit on the outside. Interior has padding and security straps. Great little bag.

Intriniscally speaking, I still prefer a CQBSS over an ATACR 1-8. I don't think the current pricing is too out of line compared to what something like a surplus Elcan brings. It's the king of the GWOT optics, imo, and clone stuff will always bring a premium.

It is, and they are. The Plan B is a little shorter than the Takedown and has fewer external pockets, and I think the shoulder strap buckle is a little different. The Plan C is an even shorter version, and is good for SBRs/folders.

without trying to dig through almost 1000 pages, anyone able to assist on the correct/common rear sight for an early block 2?

Specifically for usasoc guns, I know the kac 300m is a carry over from block 1, the matech is standard issue so is a commonly used sight, but would the kac 2-600 big knob also be correct for an early block ii?  What about the arms 40?  If correct for early guns(when the NT4 was still used) would either have been more common than the other?

so on a build using an nt4, cqd front sling mount, a 2-600 kac would be kosher?  I really hate the matechs, would prefer the kac big knob(really prefer the micro but am using that on my marsoc cqbr), but also like the kac 300 and arms,

I know the A.R.M.S. #40L got a decent amount of contract sales from 2005-2011, but I haven't actually seen that many in the wild. Most of those were Phased Replacement Block Is used by Green Berets and AFSOC units though, no RIS IIs on most of those guns
