I’m trying to decide between the Trijicon ACOG TA02 4x32 LED green horseshoe dot reticle and the TA02 4x32 LED green crosshair reticle. I keep waffling between the 2. This will be mounted on a DDM4A1 14.5" RIS II 5.56 AR15. I already have an ACOG TA31 red chevron M193, and I love the durability and simplicity of ACOGs. However, now that I’m in my mid 50s, the red chevron can sometimes be harder for me to pick up quickly. A buddy of mine has a green chevron TA31, and I find the green reticle much easier for me to see, but not a big fan of chevrons. Looking for a reticle change. This optic will mainly be used for quick target acquisition and defensive shooting, rather than bench shooting. For those with experience with either reticle, which one would you recommend? |

| I have the crosshair and prefer it for precision when needed, plenty fast for up close and transitions. You’ll notice a much bigger difference at distance or shooting something small with the crosshairs than you will notice in up close speed with the circle dot imho |
| I've had many ACOGs over the years, I find the green horseshoes to be the best for quick shooting. I'm currently mulling over swapping my NX8 out for a TA02... the same optic the NX8 replaced. Some say the ACOG is outdated but the clarity, ease of use, weight and durability is hard to beat even these days. I can't help but keep coming back to them. |

My eyes seem to pick up green better than red. I do not know why. I do not love the chevron, though. Not a fan, hence me leaning towards either the crosshair (which I am heavily leaning towards) or the horseshoe reticle. |

The illumination on the led acogs is nuclear bright. I use a green horse in a lush green environment and have never had any issue picking it up. Even turned down it's an unnatural green and stands out. Like others have said the horse shoe is probably faster and and the crosshairs more precise. Shooting longer distances your on the drops for horse shoe anyway which is precise so it's basically down to precision vs speed on closer in stuff. I think you'd be happy with either it just depends on your use case. |

Every time for me at least
