| Would I be correct in saying that the carrier/gas key should easily last 10K rounds? How long should the bolt be expected to last? Assuming these are either Daniel Defense or Sionics Weapons systems bolts and carrier/gas key and factory installed. |

I never had a bolt break on me, but I did have to replace the gas rings on it and the ejector pluger and spring. On the carrier I only ever had to replace the gas key as it came loose once. On misc parts I had a fire pin tip snap. In my life time, I only shot out one barrel and my current barrel has about 7.5k rounds through it as I haven't shot that much this year. In theory you run the potential of breaking something in the rifle everytime you pull the trigger. In reality, let's assume your expected life span is really 10k. At current prices, it's about $0.50 to about $0.60 cents a round. At 10k rounds you're spending about $5,000 to $6,000 bucks. If realistically you can spend that much on ammo, I'm sure you can spend the $100 bucks of that to buy a new bolt, right? |
