I saw a pic of an AR with what looked a silicone band marking its PMAG as "subsonic .300BLK". I thought that was a neat idea. Right now I typically use black pmags for .223 and OD green for 300BLK. But I can't tell if a loaded mag is 115gr supers or 220gr subsonic. It also would be nice to tell the difference from 77gr match reloads vs the cheapo 55 gr plinking loads. Right now I tend to only use match in the shorter 10/20 rounders as they work better off a bench rest. Silicone bands seem like a good idea, but then maybe there's something I'm not thinking through- like they won't fit into my High Speed Gear Taco mag pouches, etc. I'd like to tap into some knowledge out there as I don't shoot AR's on the range nearly as much as I'd like to be, so I'm a little rusty. |

I just use different colors of duct tape around the bases to differentiate between loads, bullet weight, etc. That's all 5.56 though. Were I to differentiate between 5.56 & .300BO, I'd go alot further, to include some kind of physical, tactile difference, for obvious reasons (do NOT want to be mixing those up). |

I have a bunch of Lancer 30rnd mags that I've only put .300 Blks in. But then, I bought a bunch of these... Some are clearly marked 5.56 some are .300 Blk and some say Subsonic... Rarely do I shoot .300 Blks that are Supers though, so Subs is kind of a given.

I use the bracelet-like rubber bands for a visual and tactile difference. Just search "mag band" on amazon as others have pointed out above. I ONLY use them to distinguish .300 blackout from 5.56. Blackout is banded. 5.56 is not. |

I also use the bands. I only use them on the blackout mags though, so it’s easy for me to distinguish between them and 5.56. I also have been buying random mags with designs on them for the Badger. Because the Badger don’t give a sh*t! 😂 Examples: Attached File Attached File |
