| I bought an LPVO and have an FSB. While I don't mind it too much right now, I do wonder what if I end up not liking the fact that the tower takes up some of my vision. What height and brand of mount should I look into for the future if it comes to this? Or is this something that shouldn't bother me at all? |

Until 2 months ago, I had 4 flattop AR15s with FSBs. These rifles were more than twenty years old. All rifles had and still have LPVO and MPVO scopes on them. In a general upgrade of the AR15s when I decided to run FRTs in them, I took off the factory hand guards, removed all of the FSBs, and installed new rails which extended past the gas blocks . I prefer this look, even though the shadow of an FSB at 1x didn't really bother me. To fulfill the purist need within me, I saved one other AR15 A2 in outwardly stock-looking form. Inside is a different story. Well, to end this post and to address the thread topic, an LPVO + FSB combo was no trouble for me for 20+ years, but then I just decided to spruce things up and took the FSBs off. I covered up the pin holes with a long nose gas block. Since the FSB pins had been in for upwards of 25 years, I shot them with Kroil the day before I intended to knock the pins out. They all came out easily. |
