| If anyone here has done the R&D and all, what barrel would you go for if you were building your first 300 Blackout suppressed in 2026? |

KAK 8" 1:5 (currently o-o-s) Attached File I have one. It was not my first, but it is my favorite. Close second: BA 8.3" 1:7 (also currently o-o-s) Attached File I also have one of these and I like it as well. |

I know the barrel is pretty short, so my question is could you should 110gr out of this as well? The barrel twist is what I'm referring to. |

Good question! I have 10 barrels, and I have not found exactly what I want. Closest is Faxson's gunner. Love the lighter weight profile. It is available in nitrided stainless steel as well as 4150. Only problem (for me) is that it only comes in a 1:5 or 1:8 twist and the length options are 7.5" or 10.5". Odin Works makes something similar, but with a thicker profile. Griffin made a 1:7 9.5" in nitrided SS, but it has been out of stock for years. Looked like a fairly hefty profile. Not the end of the world. Accuracy (and or potentially weight) matter the most (depending on usage) IMO. This isn't a "mag dump" cartridge. I do like my Wilson Combat and Roscoe 1:7 barrels, but they are is bead blasted SS only. |

| I;m thinking about the CMMG Dissent but as much as I like the action and folding stock aspect, I hate to pay waht the sytem costs then do teh paer on 10.5" and first thing is to swap out to a BBL i prefer to have that I have not yet chosen. All I know is that what they offer is not the best option. |

So far I have been very happy with the CMV Rosco Bloodline 8.2" barrel. It's been reliable and accurate. My second favorite has been my 9" BKF (by Ballistic Advantage) with pinned gas block. Also has been a tack driver and very reliable. Both are 1:7 twist and have stabilized every super and sub I have used so far. I don't personally see the need for 1:5 if everything I shoot runs perfectly through 1:7. Plus I don't see the logic in the current fad of 1:5 416R barrels. While I realize 300blk isn't a high pressure barrel eater, making the tightest twist barrels using the softest barrel material (especially if it isn't nitrided) never made sense to me from a barrel life standpoint. But to each their own. Now, if you like 1:5 and CMV, Rosco makes one in 7.5". I have occasionally been tempted to try the Criterion 8.5". But as well as the Rosco and BKF barrels have worked for me, I'm not sure I'm going to get 2-3 times the performance out of a barrel that is 2-3 times the price. So, for price, performance, longevity, and reliability...if I was purchasing another barrel for 2026 it would be another Rosco. YMMV. |

Has it been proven that 1:5 twist improves terminal performance? Like HP bullets opening more reliably or at a lower velocity? I have 2 Faxon Match Gunner barrels: a 10.5" 1:8 and a 9" 1:5. Both shoot well and are lighter-weight options. I would buy them again. I have a spare left-side charging upper that I was thinking of making into a manual action carbine. I'm planning to install a low-pro gas block upside down to cover the gas port and just run it like a straight pull back action. I'll use a delrin buffer and a flat wire pistol spring to push the action closed. I think it'll work pretty slick, and faster than a bolt action, since it only needs a straight pull backwards and then release it to close. |

| If you're consistently shooting heavy Subs I'm a believer in the Faxon 1:5 barrel too. I think the 1:5 is only available in 7.5" or 6", if it's actually available in 10" that might be a good option for someone also shooting Supers. Unless you're looking for a super compact, I think the 7.5" is the best choice. |

I have also been very happy with my 10" BA Hansen. Runs subs and supers (handloaded) great with fixed low pro gas block. Accurate for the cartridge with my 1-5 lpvo. I have killed several hogs with the 10" with supers and get great expansion with 110 V-max. Though the short bullets to pancake pretty readily. I've got some 125 SST's I want to test as well. If I was buying again today, I have been very impressed with Wilson Combat barrels. I built my Dad a 16" 300BLK with a wilson combat barrel and the fit and finish was beautiful. So depending on budget, I'd be back to BA Hansen or WC for manufacturer. I bought a 16" Rosco barrel off here for cheap but have not been able to test accuracy yet. For length, if I'm shooting supers, I like a 10" barrel for a few extra fps. I'm getting 2200fps from 110V-max handloads. Not sure what the reduction is for 8" barrel, but I like 2200fps. If I'm building a subsonic only build, I think 8"-9" with a 7 twist is what I would look for. A 10" barrel with suppressor reaches about 16-17" OAL barrel length, which is about equivalent to 16" barrel + flash hider, which is plenty handy for me. But I'll take a 8" for subs only since barrel length doesn't do much for you with Subs. |
