You all have seen my classic, totally, "old school" Bushmaster XM-15e2s from 2008... I removed the old single-point sling and gave it to my son-in-law in the Marines to find a use for it, and I ordered a new Magpul MS1 two-point sling. I am wondering the best way to mount the new sling on the Bushmaster's factory sling mounts or up on the rear stock? What would you do? Front sling mount, 100% stock  Rear stock sling mounts, 100% stock  |

I would add a side sling attachment to the front sight block. Del-ton Sling Adapter Link. For the rear, I would add a QD cup. AR15.com QD Cup It's always nice to have a QD at least on one side in case of emergency. |

| What you do is on the butt stock, loop the sling around the slots of the butt stock around the buffer tube (in your photo with the single point, it appears you're doing just that with the single point sling), then for the front just loop the front swivel. This way you can carry it across your chest and can still use it as a shooting aid as well. |

For the USGI slings, you want to make sure you buy the M4 type that is longer. The rifle one is very short and only for carrying or as a shooting aid but not both. You can also look up something called the DJ Sling which is USGI. I actually see the base guards still using it and it comes with a bunch of paracord loops that you can mount in various ways. It's a 3-point sling though. |
