Just curious has anybody's receiver at the front of the charging handle slot started to mushroom? The Jakl I owned had pretty obvious deformation from the steel handle hitting the aluminum receiver after only 500rds or so. PSA took it back, machined it smooth, and said it's likely to happen again, "normal wear." Sold the rifle shortly after getting it back but wanted to know if mine was a fluke or if this is happening to a lot of them. Good chance I'll buy another Jakl when gen 2 or gen 3 are out. |
| Did you have an early model and if so did you get the newer sled? It replaces the original sled/charging handle and should prevent the problem as far as I know. Haven’t shot mine since I did the replacement but the handle stops just short of where it did originally. |

This raised an interesting thought- are you running the charging handle a lot, and letting it go home? I'm a left handed firer, so I lock the bolt to the rear at the beginning of the session with my index finger, ride that bad boy home like an open bolt weapon system, and using the BHO I can JAK all day before I manipulate the CH again. How much deformation are you seeing? Do you think the CH track was cut short, or the mass of the sled + CH was continuing to deform the receiver? |

Right before the new sled came out but I did get the updated sled for it. Charging handle still contacted receiver with the new sled installed. PSA even stated in their email that the damage was likely to occur again. Like I said I sold the gun, was just wondering how common it is. |

I have a couple pictures of it from when I emailed PSA but haven't ever messed with figuring out how to upload pictures to this forum, sorry. Didn't use the charging handle any more or any less than I do with any other semi auto rifle. The problem is at rest the steel handle contacts the front of the receiver slot and I assume during recoil it peens the aluminum receiver. |

Imgur is easy Originally Posted By zpduff:Didn't use the charging handle any more or any less than I do with any other semi auto rifle. Would removing material forward of the charging handle until the CH didn't make contact work? |

I was pretty surprised by that response as well. Reason why I sold it. Hopefully they'll address it on a gen 2 |

The deformation seen in these pictures is not normal and does not represent the product. If this is ever seen, please send me a PM and I will get you taken care of. Thank you, Josiah |

Thank you, Josiah Your customer service literally said it's "normal" I absolutely think you're a good guy and not being confrontational but what's the fix supposed to be? Assume you read the email that was sent to me after my Jakl repair. Here's the link to the thread on your forum about the same thing. https://palmettostatearmory.com/forum/t/rail-damage-from-ch-sled/23487 |

I was about to buy a jakl upper but this has put that on hold for now. I'm hoping a clear revision comes out to address this issue or a GEN2 Jakl that will address this issue. Also, I'm really hoping PSA or someone other company starts making a quality double sided charging handle vs. the current single sided one that can be swapped. |

Since it seems more than out there is having this issue is it a part or batch of parts that’s were out of tolerance? Stacking tolerances? Will there be a revision soon to avoid this? I know with for example pa10 they had bcg would slam the rear receiver and it seemed like mostly stacked tolerances but gen 3 had the area they would hit milled out to accommodate. Was not sure with the jakl issue if it’s just a few are out of spec or it’s a common enough issue there will be revisions to address and avoid? |

Looks like the same issue as the ACR had. |
