I look at them as filling similar roles but different ways of achieving the same outcome. I have a BRN-180 and just picked up a JAKL. If the JAKL performs as expected it will take over the trunk gun job. JAKL fresh out of the box in comparison. Attached File And the JAKL an hour later. Now to get some free time to go shoot it. The JAKL is considerably heavier but i think it balances better. Recoil is very pleasant on both though, especially suppressed. Neither gassed me out at all suppressed. I think the action is a little smoother on the BRN but they're both gonna be way nicer than an off the rack AR. I haven't done any accuracy testing but not sure that's what you buy a 10.5 for regardless. I dunno your budget or needs or uses but I can say in my case I'm very happy with both. If someone forced me to choose one it'd be the BRN just because I have more time behind it. |
| ^^^ Agreed. Both are really cool firearms, and it's a toss-up over which one I take out shooting the most. I'd say that the BRN has just a LITTLE more snap in the recoil department. But if I absolutely had to choose, I think shooting the JAKL is just a bit more fun to me for some reason. |

Obviously will have to wait for the 300 Jakl but I'm hoping it'll come with a shorter barrel. A 6-8" barrel and fde is my wishlist |

For me the most critical difference is the charging handle. Minus the short stroke gas piston, the only true 180 feature they kept was the absolute worst one. That god awful charging handle and ejection port assembly. I’ll be getting a JAKL. If Brownell’s had used a left side charger it would be the upper to get. Instead they made a super model with a lazy eye and buck teeth. |
