I will have this rifle in my hands from my safe in a few weeks and can inspect it better. But i got this hand guard a long time ago. Is their any way to determine if it is the original magnesium one or an Al. one? Once home I can drom it on a scale or inspect it beter if that helps. What should i be looking for specifically?

The magnesium ones were coated rather than anodized and the coating was shinier than anodizing with a texture to it as well. It would also chip off cleanly, vs. anodizing which scuffs or scrapes off. |
