Fifteen years ago I ordered a 1.8-10 SN3 TPAL scope with their EREK knob, paid a whole lot of money for it, purchased without ever handling one, purchased based on comments here, YouTube reviews and reading test results. It is a well built scope, heavy, could be used as a weapon in itself, was made in the Brea, CA USO shop that apparently was the grotto for well made USO scopes. Now all I hear are crickets, very few comments, have not seen one on a rifle review in a long time….which leads to my title question? |

Meh, not worth the money. Lot of better options out there on the high end stuff these days. I got a bad taste in my mouth from them a few years ago(hell that was like 8 years ago) after witness a few different broken things on multiple in training. Probably a perfect good product now if they are still around And they have a large line of imported optics that’s is frankly kind of deceptively marketed as being a US made item in my opinion. |

| No, theyre basically just a bottom barrel foreign company now. So many bettery options. IIRC they sold the name and now all their stuff is junk with the same brand. The only thing worthwhile is the one scope with that huge elevation knob that was fielded by the .mil 20 years ago. |

EREK knob? I have an early USO but not that model with the big knob. I wish I could put a new reticle in it. Mine I deliberately ordered mismatched to be set up just like my Leupold tacticals that I was used to. Such a dumb thing to do in hind sight. Mildots and mOA knobs.  I bought a NF the next time and liked the light transmission much better in the NF. A touch blue in color but it seemed clearer that way. The USO seemed to grey out colors. |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

Used to be you basically designed the optic you wanted from a pulldown list of options and they’d build it up for you. Choose the reticle, the reticle illumination color, turret markings, turret style, etc. I believe on some body styles you could even choose different objective sizes. It was pretty neat. Now I see no reason to consider them over better, and probably cheaper, options. |

| I have a 1.5-6, mil reticle and turret. It’s a very good scope with great glass, for 2011. Unfortunately they were bought out and basically gutted . I have no plans to get rid of it because it’s a good scope, but better options are available from Nightforce and Trijicon and others |
