I noticed the AIM Surplus is selling two Del-Ton AR's on their web site. I thought they went out of business earlier this year or last. The ones listed appear to be a good deal. I do not recall reading anything negative about Del-Ton. AIM Surplus Link |

I have one of the DTI chromed lined barrels. Something wrong with the chrome in the bore because ever since it was new you can clean and lube the barrel then let it set for a few weeks and it starts to get rust in the bore. Took it out just last week and thought if I shot enough steel cased and jacketed bullets through it it might clean out whatever was in the bore. Didn't happen. It started sticking the steel cases after 20 rounds. Had to pop the empties out with a rod every other shot and the rim was ripped off the steel cases. Pulled the barrel to make sure the chamber didn't look rough even though I always check before building an upper. Nothing visible and it looked smooth, but the light shining in it cast a weird shadow at one spot near the case and shoulder intersection. I put a 90 bend on a piece of wire and slide it down to the spot. Instead of the wire just getting to the shoulder and starting the slide up it, the end dipped down into a recess and back up to where it then started sliding up the shoulder. Not sure how you can get a small valley on just one spot near that intersection instead of all the way around, but best I could tell it has one and steel cases expand into it enough to stick. I think I will buy one of those bore scopes now in hopes of saving time on future builds and because I'm curious what this thing really looks like inside. Everything else I ever purchased from them was fine. |

It's closed. Drove to the factory a week after the notice of closure and there was only one vehicle in the parking lot. It's a shame because they were right next door to a really nice winery/distillery/restaurant that we go to occasionally. It was cool to sit on the patio and hear them test firing indoors. |
