As we all know sometimes boredom and Adult money turn into silly ideas and random ass purchases. Well my tax return (I really don't want to hear about interest free loans to the gov't) showed up a couple weeks ago and I figured my favorite Carbine could use a fun (but relatively useless accessory or two)  So in the interest of not blowing 2 grand on a launcher and paperwork (LMT does need to do another run of their 37mm classic M203's though), I hopped onto a popular Airsoft retailer's website and took a look at what I might be able to find as far as all metal M203's go. I found the Avengers Battleaxe M203 which I promptly ordered along with a side mounted sling swivel. I also picked up a cheap 25mm red dot that kind of looked Retro, and a Condor utility strap to complete the look. I knew that mounting this thing might prove a challenge being as I have a standard round handguard cap and a lightweight profile barrel. So I prepared myself to cut notches in my cap and looked for something to use as a spacer. Amazon of course delivered with:  
Once all this stupidity arrived at my house It was go time. First I pulled the lower handguard and mounted the 203 according to about 50 different videos on youtube. I also put a cheap barrel clamp style flashlight mount between the front sight block and the barrel clamp for my Surefire 6P.  Once the launcher and light mount were secure I measured from the step inside the clamp to the base of the threads on my barrel and used a cheap tube cutter for aluminum and copper pipe to trim the aluminum tube to length. The tube slid right over the barrel and into the clamp on the launcher, then was secured in place with A2 Flash hider and crush washer. A few spritzes of semi gloss black on the cheap red dot later and we have the final result!  The result is a formerly lightweight handy carbine now being ungainly, front heavy, and really damned cool looking. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. |
