How to recognize a fake Aimpoint. (Page 6 of 6)
| Question? Just wanted to verify. I just bought a Aimpoint Comp M4 and it hits every item on the list except one. I have a little play between the brightness settings. Is this OK? I have read information that that is the way that it is. Is this correct? |

One of the improvements over the earlier M-models is physically separating the switch from the knob to prevent impacts to the knob from damaging the switch. HTH... Tomac |

Another way to tell is by looking at the threads around the optic and their pitch, they should be really fine pitch. |

Sorry if I'm digging up an old thread but I'm shopping for an AIMPOINT COMP M2 or M4 and stumbled upon these. The M2 seems legit but the M4 is triggering a little "to go to be true" feeling in my gut. Can I get your guys opinions?

One thing I noticed is that the diode will completely turn off in the middle of transitioning to another click and if you stop right there it stays off, I asked the Aimpoint rep about this and he was like "why would you leave it off in the middle of a click?" Made me chuckle, but he said that is ok if you're being dumb and turning it very slowly. |

Hi guys,
Im getting better pics tomorrow but a guy is selling these Comp M2's cheap locally. he says they're surplus, unused, which I'm guessing means stolen govt property? Im not sure and will get better pics tomorrow but in the meantime anything will help. Thanks guys. Pix:

so as far as the white boxed M4's I called aimpoint and the serial wasnt in the database as a ake. yet they didnt have it in their database to begin with. something about the new software they got.
everything about it seems real, rotates 1 way and stops,, single red dot only , i know until i actually get it in my hand and check stuff I wont know for sure. said was purchased at a gun show. and i have seen the white boxes online, so I think i know what to look for in the box. i am going to look to see a spring from the front, look at the diode. verify how the serial numer was put on it. someone said something about the screw under the caps. |

I just picked up a new CompM4. It came in a white box, but with the manual (genuine-looking) and all of the accessories (including some long black rail-looking thing). It *seems* to be the real deal, and the manual is for the "M68 CCO" which makes it military issue, IIRC. It has fifteen (15) settings and comes to a complete stop on #15. I mounted my MUM-14 behind it and the first five (5) settings are invisible to my naked eye, but they do register on my Gen 3 MUM NVS and increase in intensity at each click.
I could post photos, but I am assuming that this is conclusive enough evidence of it being a genuine? Visually, and feature-wise, everything else seems to check out. I paid $450 cash -- and it's brand new. Oh... and the MUM-14 weapon mount aligns EXACTLY (perfectly) with the CompM4. There is only about a 1/8-inch gap between the CompM4 and the MUM. Between the CompM4, MUM-14, and PEQ-15 I am officially a night-time killing machine

I've been looking for a new optic and found one listed as new with the buy it now price about $10 less than Midway. I went ahead and made the purchase and immediately felt this sinking feeling in my gut.
After I looked at their other items I started to wonder how this store could have so many items priced so much lower than other respected dealers, including ACOG's for $879. Now I'm really worried that I bought a fake Aimpoint Pro. All the pictures on the page are the manufacturers pictures and not ones of the actual item. They have over 17,000 positive feedbacks this month alone. None of them mentioned fakes. I then saw that they actually had a website they sold from. Anyway, here is the link. I've been lurking here for a while but never really posted before so I'm not sure if its ok to call out a specific seller, but if anyone here has heard anything about these guys either good or bad please let me know. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Their price wasn't that much better than the $416 that midway was charging but an ACOG fo $200 less looks a little fishy. |

It's possible that it's real (pics seem fine, seller has decent feedback, no mention of a green dot, etc), but for the price you could have purchased from a site sponsor and not had to worry about it. There are often deals running on the PRO, which are usually in the deals thread on the first page of the Optics forum. |

Folks... I got a used Aimpoint Compc3 from Ebay.
The red dot was as it was no box or manual. I just received it today and wanted to make sure this is legit. Instead of UP and R for elevation and windage it is UP-L and UP-R for elevation and windage as shown in pics And they are clearly different than the ones in the video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r3orqvBlWk 3. The serial # begins with a 'W' 4. Also, I'm assuming the yellowish resin looking thing inside the scope is normal?
