Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their shoes...
That way, when you do judge them, you will be a mile away, and they will have no shoes.

Very interesting. A similar comparison for .223 would indeed be good.
Also, to the others, I don't believe OP has divulged how he does these cross-sections. I'm appreciative that she shares the results here. ETA: I stand corrected. See below. |

Will pick up a couple of Gold Dots this weekend. wolfgang You do great work, and I would like to see you consolidate all your threads into one if it was possible... very interesting... |

Thanks everyone! For those who don't know, the great and powerful Zhukov was kind enough to put some of my earlier threads together, they are under the AR15 Ammo forum FAQS, #16 Ammunition Cross Sections.
http://ammo.ar15.com/project/Ammo_Cross_Sections/index.htm Will pick up both in .223, already have one in .45 zmax. Funny how the ones you don't expect much from..... wolfgang |

Now it's sold with the SST bullet. The Z-max either started as the V-max also or was always the SST. What I think you have there is an older V-max and current Z-max bullet. The SST will penetrate a little more and stay together just a little more than the Vmax bullet. Both are good rounds for SD in this bullet weight. |

| I know I've seen some ballistics media tests going around YT (I think tnoutdoors9 is one) making comments on a Z-Max test of how it was nearly identical to the V-Max .223 he tested in a previous video. The .223 Z-Max does have a cantelure (factory loaded) as does the V-Max. I have V-Max .22 bullets since those were available per 100 verse the Z-Max which was per 500 and I didn't know if I'd be shooting that many furry critters with them. |
Don't text and cook grenades…you might not like the results

Rather than posting nonsensical statements, how about you post some links to the gel test(s) "floating around" to substantiate your claim instead. |
