I dont even know if I am posting in the right place, sorry...Please take it easy on me, I know nothing. I own a complete Hodge Defense Mod 1, purchased at a charity auction, it was a donation. It is a real Hodge, made by Jim/Hodge Defense, not what you can purchase online. Built specificially for the government/commercial market. It is my understanding that it cannot be bought, apparently not one has been sold to the civilian market. Almost feels wrong asking this...So my question is: do you think that anyone is going to be willing to pay up for a nice rifle that you really cannot have??? Is anyone going to pay $10,000 or $20,000 or more just to have it? I have never shot the rifle, just sits in my gun safe...thought I would get into it, but I did not. I removed the Aimpoint optics, removed the suppressor, and now trying to figure out what to do with it. Thinking if I cannot sell it for that kind of money, then I will just donate it back. If you have any kind thoughts, please let me know. Thanks! |
| You should probably donate that rifle to a poor, needy veteran like myself... seriously though, I would get on Gunbroker and see what Hodge rifles are selling for currently, and if you can document that it is a unique/special build, maybe add 10-20%. If you put it on GB, you might get some Hodge nerds to bid it up. Gunbroker is useful for seeing what the market is actually paying for a gun currently. But sorry, I seriously doubt it is going to fetch you 10K+. Maybe an early John Noveske build might start creeping up there, but he's dead. |

I'm unclear if you paid 10k+ for it or if you're asking if it could be sold for 10k+ but I guess from the standpoint of being a moral person is it fair to take something you got from a charity auction and then try to make a profit off it knowing that the charity didn't get their full value for the item especially when someone donated the rifle on behalf of the charity? I think what is more important in life is that you act with good intentions. There might be nothing after death that will measure your deeds, but as a person living in the world, it is important to live and leave it being as good as you can be and leaving the best presentation of yourself, your family's name, and those that you leave behind. But as far as if the rifle is worth 10k, I doubt it. I mean a lot of H&K AR variants and KAC variants can easily be worth 10-15k ranges, but a government contract overrun rifle that isn't as big? Probably not worth nearly the same. I would say if you bought it for 2x the value at the charity, consider yourself a good person who donated to hopefully a worthy cause and just enjoy the rifle or sell it at the normal prices for such a rifle. |
