Rudy at Macon Armory made me a DI barrel chambered for .22 TCM. I think it’s about 6.5” in length. I can’t recall the gas system length. I built it into a pistol and used an Endomag with a slight feed ramp modification; it ran like a champ with brass cased .22 TCM 9R. I ran out of brass cased ammo and replaced it with half a case of nickel plated 9R. The change from brass to nickel plated apparently made a huge difference—the gun failed to feed almost constantly. The failure mode was a nose up round into the breech face where it meets the barrel extension. I have no idea why the nickel plated ammo failed to chamber, but I wonder if a different mag setup might help. Would a Glock mag lower that puts rounds closer to the chamber than the Endomag alleviate my feed issue? Keep in mind that this is a DI gun, so it uses a standard AR bolt and carrier. There could be a change in the 22 TCM 9R ammunition other than just the nickel cases. I’m curious if you have tried chronographing either or both 22 TCM 9R loads. I’m curious if you ever tried reloading for the 22 TCM 9R? A Friend of mine has reloaded for the 22 TCM double stack 1911 and a 22 TCM Rifle. He traded the rifle because the rifle wasn’t up to his accuracy standard. The TCM Powder might be the perfect burn rate for reliability in the 22 TCM 9R. The feed issue might be caused by bolt speed whether to fast or too slow. It might help to take a video of the TCM 9R AR cycling and recording any stoppages. The answer might be a lighter or heavier buffer. |
