| Did you get malfunctions? All comments welcome. Especially those who were in the service. Also, anyone who’s done it with Gen 3 pmags. |

| No, I've never had a problem. Been told numerous times that it'll cause and issue, but I've never seen it in a military or civilian context. At this point I just smile and nod and go about my lives. Just like folks who insist on downloading mags; you're not going to convince them they're buying into old wives tales. |

As far as downloading... My last comp I lost about 15 seconds because a fully loaded lancer mag would absolutely not seat. Mary have been a specific combo that caused a problem, but I see why people make this argument. YMMV. |

I've used only PMAGs for virtually all my AR shooting. Never had a problem monopodding, except that it isn't that stable, better than nothing, but that's about all I'll say I like about it. PMAGs will actually hold 31 rounds, and that takes up ALL the slack, and they will NOT seat on a closed bolt no matter what. Any time I see someone unable to seat a PMAG, which is often, without fail, they have 31 in it. My process for loading them involves looking to see the top round is on the right side, and I can press the stack down the correct amount, then move onto the next one. Like "push/pull" seating it in the gun, if you have any kind of time available, it is just good procedure to verify. The downside is newbs can fit 31 and cause problems, the upside is, they seat very nicely with 30, no problem. I sometimes wonder if they should remove 1mm of slack which would prevent 31 and may still allow them to seat pretty reliably, but they probably designed them how they did for a reason, especially three generations in. |

Even using old USGI 30 rounders with the old style follower, no malfunctions due to monopoding,, ever. We teach it in our Carbine classes, and it is taught to students in the AZPOST Carbine Instructor Class. Jay |

I was at a course and they had some fun with me because I had been trained not to monopod in a previous course. It made shooting from prone look goofy bc I wouldn't drop the magazine to the ground. Basically “hey old man, we monopod now”. They made me do it and I haven't ever had an issue. |

With the old black and green colored followers in GI mags I've had issues, but never with one of the modern anti-tilt followers like Magpul's. This reminds me, I just ended up with a few old USGI aluminum mags that still have the green followers that I need to update with the Magpul followers. |

| Yes, had some intermittent issues with Gen2 Pmags. Can't remember exactly what it was anymore but the Gen 2 Pmags have an extra bit of material on the mag body behind the follower that the Gen3 doesn't have and it was causing issues when I used the mag as a monopod and they got tilted back and up from using forward pressure. I removed the extra bit of material and no more issues. |

M14 magazines do not have any over insertion stop and so mono podding can push the magazine up too far and cause malfunctions. That is how the doctrine of not resting your rifle on the magazine started as I was told by an instructor at my firearms instructor cert course. We were told to encourage mono podding. I have no dog in this fight. Just passing along info. |

I do it all the time and have done so for many years using a variety of magazines and never an issue. On the subject of downloading magazines... not all magazines have the same residual compression when fully loaded. Load all your mags to capacity and then press down on the last round... if you have some compression left, that mag should seat on a closed bolt, if there's little to no compression, you can MARK that magazine as it most likely will not seat on a closed bolt. |
| Nope. Doing gun runs with blind stages. I'm running with enough weight no need to add a bipod just in case there is a stage with prone shooting. For shooting off barricades, i brace off the handguard and magwell/mag (roof top type barricades) and no issues there as well. |

Ignorant wisdom to avoid this because it will induce a malfunction was passed down from pogs who thought they knew what they were talking about, much like a ton of incorrect wisdom in the Marines. Used it to get BN high shooter my last KD range. The STA guys were upset they didnt win. Never an issue. |
