Nothing exciting, round blew out and sent brass down to embed in the plastic mag. I was using a binary trigger, which I’ve read can cause rimfire rounds to go off out of battery, but what’s the best way to prevent it, besides making sure the chamber isn’t grimy?    |

I'd say bolt bounce, especially if you were trying to shoot the binary fast. Head over to bore buddy and get the adjustable bolt weight. https://borebuddy.com/product/22lr-bolt-weight/ Might order the buffer pressure plug at the same time. I don't use mine but it won't hurt to use one... In my case, the standard stainless weight solved my light rim strikes and occasional OOB and still does even with an FRT. At the time, the adjustable was not an option yet. Had it been, I'd have went that route for more tuning options... Before adding mass, I tried various recoil spring rates, firing pin springs of various rates, enhanced firing pins. I could improve/reduce the light strikes/OOB's caused by bolt bounce. adding the bolt mass solved my problem. For reference I'm using a CMMG 4.5" dedicated 22lr barrel/bolt combo suppressed full time, standard FCG and springs with a super safety. I can pretty much shoot any ammo, even most subs will cycle. I generally shoot cheap bulk since my short barrel keeps them sub sonic and it's Cheap! |

Thanks, looks like I’ll be putting in an order with bore buddy. At the time I was worried about too much energy being lost out of the rear of the casing, and winding up with a squib in the barrel. But thinking about it now, most of the pressure probably still gets released down the barrel before the case blows open. |

I've had a couple in a row. SUCKED I gave the gun a good cleaning and stopped using lead nose bullets. Only copper plated/washed ammo now. Edit - It may have also put a split in my conversion bolt, but CMMG hooked me up with another one for free when I sent them pics of the split. |
