| For those who can't throw down 3 to 6K which is the better choice? Are they a choice? Reviews indicate , you either love your particular version or hate it. So whats the deal? |

Maybe a better title? It's kinda alphanumeric salad that made my eye glaze over. Also some patience? Compared to discussions of other AR-15 calibers, AR-10 discussions, and non-milspec AR-15/AR-10 based platforms w/o their own dedicated forum, standard length rifle cartridge AR platforms are a fairly small portion of the conversation here, so it may be a bit before someone wanders in who has first hand knowledge of two different specific products. Good luck finding those with the expertise you seek. |

I can speak a bit about the GLFA, but I have never played with a BCA. Though I purchased four GLFA 300 Win Mag rifles to prototype with, I never actually fired any of them, chambered in 300 Win Mag. I stripped them all down and started rebuilding them into something a bit more interesting. The GLFA is built on a standard modified AR-10/LR308 receiver set. It's the exact same size and the uppers and lowers pin up the same as a standard LR308. GLFA moved the FCG rearward and shortened the length between the back of the pistol grip and the buffer tube threads. That allowed enough room in the front for the lengthened magazine well. Much the same way Ruger did the SFAR. The lower receiver is a proprietary part and can't be modified from something else, but the GLFA upper assembly can be made completely from standard LR308 parts with modification.....I know that, because I did that. I won't go into all the details, but the firing pin, bolt carrier, charging handle, and upper receiver all need modification to work with the long stroke action. And let me clarify here, it's NOT a LONGER action, the action is the exact same length as a standard LR308, but its a longer STROKE action. The BCG travels a longer distance even though it is housed in the same 308 length action. Unfortunately, GLFA chose to run a standard 308 ejection port size with a standard port cover. I believe this is really the serious issue in the design. Because the BCG strokes rearward so much further, if the empty casing is not ejected early in the rearward travel of the bolt, it will carry the spent casing back to where it's shrouded by the receiver wall before it ejects. So if your bolt velocity is too fast, the BCG will carry the spent case deep into the receiver, and by the time the case starts to eject, it's behind the ejection port. You may ask yourself, how do I know this since I never fired them in 300 Win Mag? It's because I first tested the Remington Ultra Mags by only enlarging the ejection port the size delta between a 300WM and a RUM case....and ejection was sketchy. I had to enlarge the ejection port a PILE to get reliable ejection and that's even with a tuned adjustable gas block. We made prototypes in 300 RUM, 300 PRC, 375 RUM, and 338 Lapua. Due to lack of interest/sales, the line was discontinued with only 10ea 375's sold and one 300 PRC. Tony Rumore Tromix |

I have made my decision, and it's on it's way. I thank Mr. Rumore for his input. As I currently lack the ability to do the machine work he indicated, ( at one time I did), I have decide on the other brand. It seems to be a longer action, and certainly has a larger ejection port. Planning on a new barrel in fairly short order, anything less than .850 or so will have a short, heat/accuracy delta. Anyhow, when it arrives, I'll start updates to keep those who might be interested, apprised of my efforts. We will see how it goes. |

I spoke with them directly before ordering. 3.34, is the answer I got . I have seen pictures indicating that is about on the money. Probably only a few thousands more , with machining. BUT, I have an answer for that, I will be investigating other magazines that can be modified to fit, and if nothing works there..... I have a cartridge in mind that will fit with no issues, at 95% of what 300 WM offers. Already planned on a new barrel. Just have to find someone to turn it for me. In any event, it's in and I have to pick it up. I'll take measurements, and let you know. |

| So to answer the question, what's the max COAL, 3.365 leaving about .005, for clearance, which is irrelevant. The bolt that holds the BCG in place, fell off as I pulled the gun out of the box. The magazine is ridiculous. Feels like the heaviest part of the rifle. Loading 3 snap caps to check function locked the magazines solid. Wont move. Apparently anti tilt is not a feature with this magazine, it's all tilt. The spring only supports the front half of the follower. There is a 1 inch block in the bottom of the magazine. My guess is it, wont' function as 10 or 7, hell it doesn't work as a 3 rd. The anodizing is so rough, it's like sand paper, you can hear it rubbing. The follower is the same way, WTF. It should be plastic or plastic coated, as the rounds literally stick to it during function. It's not as heavily built as the reviews would indicated, mine in the box barely came to 9 lbs. I have a 7RM bolt action that's heavier, with a sporter profile barrel. The palm grip has 3 heavy scuff marks. Looks like it was scuffed during assembly, used ? The buffer spring is the softest I have ever seen, about half as stiff as my PSA 15 carbine 5.56 is. Don't know if I trust that. All in all.... I'm unimpressed, it's going back. |

| Well it went back, with no questions asked, and refunded. Got an email asking for a review on the rifle. Sent them back, an email, telling them they probably don't want me to post a review. And so it ends. I'll probably revisit this idea later, with a different option. |

@TonyRumore I have a question for you about these. Did they use an LR-308 type barrel extension, or something proprietary? I’m considering a project with one of these, but I’m wanting to turn a custom barrel(I want a heavier profile). Just wasn’t sure if I could use my current extension wrench, or if I’d have to figure something else out. |
