Decided running grease would be better in the climate I’m in. Looked around some older threads and found some stated lithium grease absorbs 100% if its weight in water. I can’t find sources that say if it’s true or not. Is one of these better: lithium, calcium, aluminum, polyurea, complexes?

Anything rated for wheel bearings should have a good film strength and moisture resistance.

I’ve spent many days over 100 degrees on the range and have never felt grease is the right answer to lubing an AR.

Just squirt more oil in it a couple times a day.

Leave it wiped down with an oily rag when not at the range hosing ammo.

Caking the thing with grease sucks when it comes time clean it out.

Grease is great on top of the hammer, especially if you are trying to run a .22lr upper.

I can say to stay away from silicone greases, these seem to cause rapid wear on any moving aluminum alloys.
To get a water resistant grease the spec will say “wash resistant”. Outboard gear grease for marine use is an example of wash resistant grease.
The molybdenum containing greases risk acidification if exposed to water. Hope I’m helping.

Never ran anything but CLP in 110 degree desert environment. Weapon never went down in a firefight due to lack of lube.

Not sure where you are where grease is the right choice but I ain't going there.

Neco Molyslide - 60% molybdenum disulfide in a light grease; only a barely visible film is needed.  Moly gets burnished into the surfaces that contact - it's nearly permanent, and stays where it's put.  It isn't a corrosion inhibitor, so I use CLP to prevent rust (a light film).

Would NLGI 2 grease be too thick for an AR15 bcg?
