| I’ve got a ranch rifle type gun buffer is located within the upper like a jackal. Intermittently the bolt will not hold open on the last round. If I manually rack it with an empty mag it will lock every time. Also if I only load one bullet in the mag it will work every time without fail. I’m at a loss here. I had my gun smith look at it and he will not recreate the issue because he only loaded one round at a time in which case it works fine he seemed to bothered to load multiple rounds to recreating my problem. The other two smiths I do not trust and I’m running out of options gun is lubed properly cleaned. Ejection pattern suggest slightly over gassed but I’ve had rifles way over gassed not exhibited this issue. Recoil spring is brand new. Why would this rifle reliabilly lock back loaded with one round and then intermittently not lock back with loaded mags on the last round? What do you guys suggest I start checking? I’ve ordered a suppressor recoil springs incase it truly is so over gassed it won’t hold back the last round but have not received it yet |

Two things and the first is to look at the spent cases, to see if the rims are bent backwards from the extractor pull of them out of the chamber. If rims are not bent, then chances are rig is not over gassed with the bolt opening too soon. Second, did not state what mags, so shotgun upper open, insert empty mag into well and lock it in place, then push bolt catch down, shove the follower in the mag all the way forward, and see if this is happening.  If yes, then may need to switch to different mags, may need to replace the bolt catch/install mod'd 9mm bolt catch to solve the problem. Next, may be cheap clone mags, that just are not recovering fast enough, and why the bolt catch is not pushed all the way up to catch the bolt face on the way forward. Last one, pull charging handle all the way back, face of bolt should stop 1/4~1/8" in front of the back of ejection port window edge, and the last inch of charging handle pull, should be the same tension as the middle of the pull. Only other think that rings out, has slight gas leak now, and it getting worse at the steel parts heat up from live fire. Could be gas block to barrel, or could be carrier key to top of carrier isntead. Last one, and what are using to lube and clean the rig. Solvents like hoppes leaves behind a protective coating, hoppes oil does not have a cleaning agent in it,and the use of either in the rig (instead of CLP), could be that the chamber is just fouling out quickly, this is causing the rig to choke out/get worse as the parts do heat up. As for the rig being kind of like an ar but not really,  If the problem is not ammo, mags, cleaning and lubing problems, the may want to give Foxtrot Mike a call, and/or just send the rifle back to be checked by them. Hence problem could be at simple as chamber not reamed for Nato ammo, and that being the problem instead. |
