Howdy, Just shot a test group of 75 grain TMJ .223 from Federal(AE223T75) today and had decent results. The first six rounds grouped at 0.927 MOA before mirage kicked in, last two rounds opening it up to 2.1 MOA. Velocity in a fresh 11.5” was 2387fps. Are these the results being seen from others with this ammo? It looks slow but still will outperform M193 at distance(right?). Maybe too slow to be worth the switch? |

You're rifle is going to shoot the ammo differently than any other rifle. Trying to compare one ammo type with a very wide variety of firearms will produce wildly different results. We can all use the same gasoline brand/octane, but some of us drive a Geo Metro and some of us drive a Tundra. None of us will have the same gas mileage. YMMV. Literally. If the ammo shoots well enough to please you, who cares how it shoots in my rifle? |

High volume shooters may notice consistency issues or have advice regarding using this lowish velocity 75 grain load vs M193(poor precision but very consistent). I am wondering if this is too slow to be worthwhile since I can get it at the same price as M193. |

You're basing all this on one 8 round group? Could be the ammo, could be the shooter, could be the gun, could be a combination of all of them. Try three 10 shot groups to start And that velocity is completely normal for a 75gr from an 11.5" barrel |

I have heard/seen good accuracy results from the Fed 75gr FMJ but have never shot any myself. My plinking ammo is usually some 55gr FMJ variant and for accuracy I have a variety, usually 69 or 77gr. I am always looking for best MOA per price per round and this interests me. 6 shots sub MOA is a good start since I usually only shoot 5 shot groups (variables really start to climb past 5 shots FOR ME that distract from accuracy). OP, as stated above, only your gun(s) will tell you if this ammo is worth it. It does sound promising enough to try some more. |
