I've been putting BCM KAG on most rifles lately but As far as true VFGs go I like the Troy modular combat grip and have them on several rifles too https://worldoftroy.com/product/grip-modular-combat-blk/ I know, screw Troy, but it's durable, grippy, has storage, and can be setup real short to long  ETA: I do run a Vero Beach KAC on a PSA though  The grip is a PoS, single plastic rail interface. Can't believe they held up during GWOT

They are all pretty much handstops for me, but depending on my exact use case for the gun, either the BCM (plastic) or the Samson stubby. The BCM stays cooler. The Samson is QD and can be pulled off in about 2 seconds in the event I want to shoot off a bag or other position where it will interfere. I wish they made the Samson with a plastic outer layer. |

For a normal AR none and if I must a BCM. For an FRT heavy barrel or belt fed build the Tango Down. I wish there was something even heavier duty, full sized, bolted on, had no tape switch pocket, and would not get hot or let you get burned. KAC is way too flimsy for FRT and too long for a normal AR. |

| My only experience has been the Daniel Defense picatinny vertical grip. It'sthe right length where it'snot too long but not too short. Kind of hard to twist and it drives me nuts that the bottom locking cap doesn't sit flush when it's fully tightened. But it works for 40 bucks. |

I have several of the UTG pro ones. I really like them. They are comfortable, ambi, have panels for pressure switches for lights/lasers, has a storage compartment for whatever you want (I have a spare optic battery). They also have a knob on the bottom to install and remove it. A couple quick turns and you can take it off, or change the position forward or backwards quickly. They are also cheap. As with stocks, the Magpul option is basically the best on the market. It offers so much, and asks so little... YMMV. I like the contour of the magpul, it's just long enough to broom handle when the gun gets hot, and the ergos are a very good fit for me. Haven't found anything better, but I'm not inclined to buy a bunch of grossly overpriced bits of polymer to replace something that does exactly what I need it to do. Only thing to really improve might be to add a little more texture to it, or maybe a storage compartment. |
