I thought this was a particularly interesting question, so I tried one of the two types of large frame ARs I have to see if this would work. 1. Aero Precision M5E1 enhanced upper/lower with Aero nitride BCG: The trigger kicker does not stick far enough above the top of the lower to engage the trip surface on the BCG so that is a no-go. In addition to that, the trip surface appears to extend too far forward so it looks like the carrier would likely bind before going into battery IF the kicker was tall enough to matter. 2. DPMS Gen 1 Recon 308: TBD With the wild variations in parts for large frame ARs, I would imagine that designing a FRT would be an unbelievable mess. I don't see how someone could successfully market one unless it is for a specific manufacturer ONLY or, better yet, an all-up gun that has an FRT already installed. I'd love to be wrong about that part. There seem to be some serious geniuses at work the the FRT space, so we shall see. |

I can not speak for any other brands or configurations. I only know the DPMS G2 series is compatible with AR15 FRT's. I am using the stock buffer that came with the rifle, which is a "rifle" type buffer, but it is about 3/4 of a inch shorter than a standard AR15 rifle length buffer. I replaced the steel weights in it with tungsten to make it a heavy buffer. The buffer spring is a tubbs flat wire spring. I also installed a superlative adjustable gas block. |

If it doesn’t work in that I’ll find it another home… I did their 45/90 with a SSA-E in my .300 BO SBR that’s integrally suppressed and it is by far my favorite FRT’d AR. The trigger pull is excellent and the short throw selector is tits! |

You'll need the GMR 308 safety or the Hoffman LR-308 lever if you can find one, but the Hoffman style seems to break easily. The Ruger SFAR and the DPMS G2 are possibly the only 308 rifles that will work with an AR15 FRT. |
