I am currently gathering all the parts for building an 8" 300BLK. The requirement for the rifle will be LARPing at the range, plinking, and home defense. I'm not going straight into any night shooting but would like to have an optic that provides an opportunity to move into night shooting with goggles. I heavily leaning towards Eotech. Below are two questions I was hoping for clarification: 1) The dedicated .300BLK Eotech is ugly as sin with the logo/diagram on it. I've read the EXPS3-2 is the same optic, is that correct? 2) Is delamination still an issue with Eotechs and something to seriously be concerned with? I know it was years ago. 3) With the above listed requirements (home defense, night vision, etc.), is there any other optics I should seriously consider? Budget I'm looking around would be around $800 with possibly room to increase a little. I want the optic to have a good FOV and not have a tube effect when looking through the optic. Thanks in advance! |

Take your pick and don’t look back. I'll definitely have to look more at the Holosun AEMS. I have before and LOVED the shake awake technology concept. I had no idea that it was NV compatible! |

Does the AEMS have a two dot reticle option? My $.02.... Like you, I hate the giant "300BLK!!!1111!!11!" logo on the 300blk branded Eotech. I got the regular EXPS3-2 which, from my research, seems to have the exact same reticle. What I do is zero with supers at 50yd. With that zero, subs typically hit between the two dots at 50, and definitely below the bottom dot at 100. The dots are pretty close together. My opinion after using it is that a single dot with just estimating a holdover for subs based on approximate distance is going to be just as fast/good in all but "group shooting off a bench" type situations. If you are using the subs at the pistol ranges they are realistically good for, there just isn't that much difference in POI between them and supers to matter much unless the target is really small. If you are shooting supers and subs at 100+yd, 1) why? 2) you are likely better off with an LPVO with an actual reticle in it. So, I may move the Eotech over to a 5.56 rifle sometime and try out the two dot reticle with a magnifier (one sighting system I've never used). Any reflex sight has an ultra wide field of view; as wide as your eyes are capable of seeing, if you are using it correctly (target focused, both eyes open) |

It's definitely helpful. I'll mostly be shooting subs but that definitely gives me an idea for holdovers. One thing I like about Eotech is that they are made in the US, where Holosun is made in China. With that said, I don't know if Eotech is still having delamination issues. I do like that the soon released EoTechs will have Shake Awake, but $1,000 for that feature seems pretty steep. |

Delam still happens, it's significantly less common than it was before and probably about half of the newer reports are misidentifying the epoxy seal around the glass as delam. For NV work there really isn't anything superior to eotech, but you can make the other options work, they just won't have the edge that eotech does; how much that matters is up to you. The larger and clearer window does help with passive aiming and the holographic reticle giving your eye the impression of it being on the same focal plane as the target is the bigger advantage to speed than just being a bigger reticle. Also has the least parallax error of all sights. |

I do like the idea of it being better for passive aiming, less tube like feel, and also that there is less parallax. I would assume it would be tougher than a Holosun too, but that is just an assumption since I haven't gotten my hands on either. |

I’m an EOTech fan. The only input I have is that the shake awake feature would be a big plus for an HD gun. But that’s already been brought up. If the 300blk reticle is what you want, consider a wrap. I just put one from Ranger wraps on mine and I really like it. They may have a color/camo that fits your build. |

Sweet I didn't know about the wraps. I'll definitely have to reconsider the .300blk EoTech now. Really appreciate this info! |
