I'm searching for a good combo of companies that make cleaners along with a grease. So far I have Slip 2000, Tetra, Milcomm, and Hoppes. One thing about Hoppes Gun Grease is that it says it is formulated for idle guns but then it says confusingly that it is also a lubrication. I'm finding very little reports of people using it on guns, and none specifically on AR15s. I do read some reviews on Amazon that seems to talk about AR builds but not actually using it as a grease for lubrication. The hoppes gun grease and hoppes 9 seem to be the cheapest of the combos. Anyone ever used it for an AR15? |

Froglube is sort of a grease/paste that acts as both a cleaner and lube but I used the last of my gallon bucket earlier this year. Order of pricing is that milcomm being the most expensive and hoppes being the most cheapest. I'm familiar with all of the products and their affects except for hoppes gun grease. I guess I'll have to find out myself given the entire thing is less than 20 bucks for both the hoppes 9 solvent and grease. |

I used to use Hoppes Gun Grease, it was the first grease I used on guns to try it out. Its ok but I feel its a simple old fashioned grease without all the benefits of more modern heavy duty additives and formulas. I now use the SuperLube grease mostly and am happy with it. High temp, food grade, non staining, dielectric, synthetic, etc. Lucas also makes Gun Grease, oil, cleaner etc. I really like the Lucas line up and especially the Extreme Duty gun oil and grease. |

I did ended up buying the hoppes 9 and the gun grease from them. I kind of forgotten about the hoppes smell and did not really like it and decided to toss it. I instead went with another smelly product Tetra gun grease and their clp. It seems to work really well and stays wet even after 250 rounds. I'm not in the process of testing storage and seeing if it still stays wet after a month. I recall I really liked tw25b when I had it, but it would dry out quickly even during firing or storing it for a little bit. |

It's a DI system, it's supposed to run dry. Having said that, once clean I wipe everything down with an oily rag with a bit of red grease and break free mixed together on it. I used to use a product called RIG ( silicone grease) for light lube as well as rust preventive. I never concerned myself with brand compatibility, it's all petroleum or petroleum derived. |

I’m using soap and water to clean the bcg and then rubbing alcohol to clean the upper and lower. So far I notice the tw25b is actually running a bit cleaner than the tetra.
