After finishing a DD/Spikes M4 build, I decided that my Bushmaster Patrolman's Carbine (my first AR) needed an upgrade... So I picked up an Armalite A2 clamp-on FSB, triangle handguard cap, and a set of rifle length MOE handguards. After cutting down the existing FSB and installing the new parts, I REALLY like the result...

I ran across this thread the other day, and I've been thinking it might be cool to do a dissipator build... Maybe somtgimg like that sweet SLR-15 Grail. If only I had more money to blow on another gun right? Then it hit me... I've got four extra FSP in my gun tool box that I can mess around with. All I need is an 8/32" thread tapper and a bunch of 1/4" long 8/32" set screws and build complete! It's definitely sturdy, and the fact that I didn't have to alter the barrel makes me feel way better about it, since I've been known to change my mind.

Most of the parts for my "Poor-patator" (poor man's dissapator) so I started the build.
I started with a standard STAG carbine upper. Good solid shooter with zero issues in 2-3yrs worth of shooting. Probably 800rds of 223 and 1-1.5K of .22lr. I was just getting bored with the carbine handguard/gas system but didn't want to drop $$ on a 1/9 twist 16" barrel. So far the cost has been/Will be: $65 for the YHM folding front sight (not here yet) $50 from brownells for the MOE rifle length handguard/triangle handguard cap/taper pins $15 for a used FSB that was chopped So $130 in the hole, but that only matters if I do not sell off the old parts (ie MI handguard, FSB, round cap, ect). So far what has been done can easily be undone. The parts can also be swapped to a different barrel if I decide to go with higher end parts. So far, I REALLY like the added length of the guard. I may end up getting a Armalite clamp FSB for a more authentic look, haven't decided yet. As soon as Brvao gets the Dissapator uppers selling, I will pick up one of those as well.

Wishful thinking, I know. With the Moe rifle length handguards out, I'm hoping that they will be out soon. Not sure why that would be a factor in it, but I believe it was theorized as part of the equation?? |

Finished up the poor-tator. I've been a fan of the FAL for awhile now, and I think that's why I like the Dissapator setups so much.
I've got a spare lower waiting for the Bravo Dissy, so I tried that and the "light weight" CAR style stock that was originally on this upper before I converted it. I'm thinking I might go with a ACE Entry stock to give it more of a FAL Paratrooper look. Don't know which way for sure yet. Already thinking that this one will get a Millett DMS-1 for an optic to replace the red dot. So here it is completed.
