I am thinking of doing a modernized dissipator setup, but I'm concerned with the balance of the rifle. Here's what I had in mind: - KE Arms KP-15 lower - KAK industries Rifle length gas 16" barrel - Rifle speed gas block I'm not sure what to pick with the handguard in terms of best balance. Any ideas? |

A 16" rifle gas would be a 605-ish and isn't classified as anything. |

I have looked at the JP front sight block, but the ID of the FSB is too large for most pencil profile barrels, so I don't think it would work. That, and if I am trying to set this up for suppressed use I am worried about POI shift with attaching/removing a suppressor. If the KP-15 lower is too light for a full 16" dissipator setup, would it be worth it to go for something like a 12.5" mid length setup? My whole idea with this is to create a build with the longest possible gas system with the shortest possible barrel, since it would work with a suppressor quite well. |

Wow, my understanding of your project changed completely from your first description to your most recent. A dissipator, to me, would be a 16" barrel, rifle position FSB (either the actual gas system or as just a sight with a low-pro gas block under the handguard), and a clamshell handguard with some upgraded feature... in your case, presumably a free float barrel/handguard instead of a clamshell as you indicated you wanted a riflespeed gas block, which is only accessible with a free float barrel. It seems there's a couple definitions of dissipator that people feel pretty strongly about. |
