Good morning,

I have not used a magnifier before and I am having trouble adjusting the diopter. If I focus the dot everything is blurry and if I sharpen the image, the dot smears. Not sure what I may be doing wrong.

Do you by chance have astigmatism ?  If so... you might want to try a "Prism" RDS.
