Watched this video and there were some differences of opinion in the comments about the M3 letting the cartridge set or feed higher than an M2 version. I could not find this as fact in any advertising I could find and just looking at the two the front height of the bullet appeared the same between the two models. There was a difference comparing them both to an original. The front opening was already enlarged between the original and the M2 and I could only find a very slight change when measuring between a M2 and M3. Can anyone point to factual info? Also the video claims the body is straighter at the top of an M3 but the advertising list them both as a constant curve? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wOu750v8Wg I did not notice anyone in the video mentioning the bigger opening in the bolt catch area at the rear, that they lowered the front bump out down so it is not as close to the mag well anymore, and the beefed up stop at the mag catch area. What other differences have been noticed? |

ok first off when I get home I'll get a pic of a gen1, gen2 and 3 all together. cosmetically they added the dot matrix at the bottom of gen 3s they added a over insertion stop for the gen 3. there were problems with the gen 2s in quite a few platforms for example on the scar they would fit but would raise the bolt catch up just a bit not always enough to catch the bolt but enough to rub. on the sa80 gen2s wouldnt fit and birthed the emag. same with the f2000 unless you take the dust gasket off they wont fit ish. the followers are slightly different. my understanding is the feed angle was changed to allow for the 855a1 If i remember right the the polymer is different the gen 3 is a better polymer. there was the interim emag which was between the gen 2 and 3. (I would die for 1 of each of the tan or green ones) |

I can't find anything about a feed angle change between the M2 and M3 only that the M3 was submitted for testing, but it had changes other than feed angle that were needed for that over the M2. Only thing I could find here was a 2015 post where a member slid the 855A1 round forward until it touched the feed ramp and it touched the same place with the M2 as the M3. Both being further than the other mags shown in the post. I noticed they added a stop to the floorplate retainer piece to make up for the part chopped off part of the back of the follower on the M3. |
