DPMS 11.5” upper

I have a chance to buy a DPMS 11.5” upper circa 2005 for a couple of hundred bucks. This would strictly be a toy, but I do want something that functions and not a serious project. What kind of reliability can I expect out of this thing?

My DPMS stuff from that time period always worked perfectly. Can you shoot with it 1st before buying? I swore off buying used uppers from Gunbroker after receiving 2 that were sold to me as Bushmaster that absolutely didn't function.

1/7 twist 11.5 is kind of hot at the moment after James Reeves recent interview with an FBI Ballistician.
