| Is there any handguards out there that are designed to not get as hot? I have multiple SBRs and cans and they get hot super quick. I was using BCM mlok handguards with Magpul covers but even with that my daughter was done shooting after like two mags lol. I switched to the BCM QRF with Magpul covers thinking the increased surface area would help and it did but now the handguards are quite girthy! Just seeing what other options might be out there. |

What you need are double heat shield type reflective [inside] handguards to stop the transfer of heat to your hands. But, barring that, you need to get away from metal and go to a non heat conducting material if you can find something that works for you. Anything metal is going to transmit barrel heat very quickly to your hands. Or, wear good insulating gloves.................. |

I went to Carbon Fiber handguards to avoid heat. They never got as hot as aluminum, and that was a concern in the AZ heat before you even started shooting. Currently using the PRI Gen 3s for a more durable option, but I have used several Smoke Composites that were completely fine and much better suited if you don't need the absolute most rigidity. They were much lighter than the PRI. |

Yep I just made this swap on my gamer rifle Also put some Zircoflex insulation in the area where my hand makes contact with the handguard I can run 4-5 mags fairly quick before the barrel and receiver are smoking hot  |

I’d recommend repairing your targets after every drill. If you don’t time and score yourself you really can’t improve your skills. I see guys mag dump into a hill of dirt and shake my head. That is neither training nor practice. If you train a lot you learn to swap between two guns with similar setups to maximize time. Just my .02 Attached File |
