Item arrived today, sans battery. Once I got an AA battery installed, it lit right up, no issues. Works for me. M16A4 upper nearly complete. Just needs a paracord "leash" between CompM4 & in front of delta ring. Will work on lower next. ETA: did the Army ever use (authorized or not) a flip-up type scopecover to protect the ARD & front objective lens of the M 68? Inquiring minds wanna learn from Afghan vets. |

Yes, I had flip up covers on my M68 in Iraq in 2005-2006. I recall thinking they were some brand of commercial covers, because they came in plastic bags that didn’t look like typical military parts or accessories. Our armorer got a batch of them partway through the deployment. They were spring loaded with a push button to release them, rather than just pushing a tab on the side to pop them loose like simpler covers. I wish I knew what brand they were, because I’d like to get a matching set for my CompM2 for when I finish my clone of my issued M4. |

I got a brand new M4S issued in late 2010 prior to deployment. Put it on my M4 and never used covers…..suppose there were some, I guess, but I never had any. Turned it on upon arrival in Kandahar 2011 and never turned it off till I left late in 2012. Never saw a M16A4 there unless it was ANA or Marine. |

| I have the model with the low battery compartment. The factory flip up lense covers get in the way of unscrewing the battery cap on mine. I switched to just putting a Scopecoat on it when not in use because nobody was stocking the rubber bikini cover. |
