I finished building my 7.62x39mmm Commando build recently. Full details in my SNW write up but here's the basics: - BAD Korean M161A1 lower (because that's what I had) - B. King LPKm retro buffer tube assembly - Doublestar Aluminum CAR stock - B5 LS2 grip. Not era correct but this didn't really exist anyway and I like the grips - A1 upper from my parts bin. Not sure whose it is. I got it in a trade I think. - Model 1 Sales 7.62x39mm 10.5 inch barrel - KAK flash hider - KAK BCG - Echo Nine Three handguards - Vietnam era nylon M1 carbine sling Attached File Attached File |

Nice job ts. And great write-up you posted the link to. Just an FYI, and this would be period correct. If that M1 sling ever feels too short, in the XM177E2 manual under accessories, they show the part number for the BAR cotton canvas slings. It's longer and gives more room to adjust. Can you give more details about that magazine? Is it 2 mated together? What did you use for a spring? |
DON'T EVER DOUBT THE TALENTS OF HEATNBEAT!
Boy,I'd love to stumble across a Redfield Jr. one piece base marked 40X on the bottom

Nice build and write up! I ended up turning down a 7.62x39 Bear Creek barrel to .625 on mine. ( I did a pistol XM177 worn out looking build). AK barrels are thinner, so I didn't see an issue. I run an Arizona regulator in it which does quite well! |

The mags are from Duramag. They come in 20 and 28 round versions. The long one is the 28 round mag. They may make a 10 as well. |

That guy is definitely cooler than me though, lol. |

That looks like a lot of fun! Have you run it with a super safety/frt? My 7.62x39s: (I have a few of those Uni-Mags with the crazy followers, but they look like normal mags) ![]()

Looks like something that came out of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence's (ODNI) shadowy Intelligence Support Unit (ISA) for plausible deniability field operations in Africa and Central Asia, namely Iran, in the early 1980s. A carbine for tattoo-less former US Army Special Forces officers so deep into high risk anti-Soviet/counter-terrorist intelligence gathering they've even had their Western dentistry drilled out and replaced with stainless steel and gold amalgam by an orthodontist who defected to the USA from East Germany. Among other things candidates must speak and read Farsi with proficiency level B or higher, still have their wisdom teeth, demonstrate proficiency in flight operations with the Mi-8 "Hip" rotary wing aircraft, and have passed the US Army's Basic Animal Husbandry course for central Asian Bactrian Camels. Total Harry Tasker "Omega Sector" shit. |
