I picked up a nice, unmolested Colt Sporter Competition HBAR today at my local gun store. Took her home gave her a very thorough cleaning a lubing, then headed out to a friend farm to do some informal shooting and sight in the 4x handle mounted scope. Well, it shot flawlessly and with just a few shots it was zeroed at approximately 25 yards. Man was that easy to do today and frankly I was surprised to see how well it shot off hand or with it being braced against the outside corner of the outbuilding to steady it a little more for a more precision shot. I believe it's a pre-ban. It does have a detachable carry handle (and my handle 4x optic fit superbly in it with no wiggle.) I will get to the 100 yard line and finish the zero process soon. But it is a lttle warm in Northern Missouri this week. I look forward to your comments and to pick your brain as well. It appears the CH serial number prefix is around 1978???? |

I called Colt Customer Service this morning and had a very pleasant conversation. My born date is indeed May of 1993. Do, pre-ban by a year. I realize it has a block in the lower to prevent it from being made into a full-auto rifle and the non-full auto bolt. Which really means nothing to me. What matters to me for a target/competition rifle is accuracy and function. I have other AR-15 to suppress and try an frt if I so desire. Thank you for the opportunity to share and chat with you. Anyone have any thoughts about these outstanding HBAR’s??? |

I did a bunch of practice with a 6700 that was actually my brother's. Loved that rifle. Shot it so much that the factory trigger smoothed out noticeably. Have hoped to come across another one. I actually do have one but it's NIB and hate to use it. I have longed for a true HBAR 20" for a couple decades now. I guess I could just shoot my NIB too but hard to make that jump. |
