I took that route with his bolt action (77/357, fun gun). For his ar, i just bought a stripped lower and bcm lpk. I have enough spare parts to build about anything so i had him try all my ar builds and then built his how he wanted it based on what he liked and wanted to do most. Ended up with a nice lightweight 18" 'spr' build that he loves. I'll do the same for my daughter. I think she's going to be the bullet hoser of the two. I'm sorry this is coming off more as a rant than technical advice, i guess my point is my view is different as i wanted to play into the strength of the flexibilty of builds for the ar right off the bat vs other guns. There's nothing wrong with wanting peace of mind in a quality one and done either though. |
